Whenever anyone asks for advice on this forum, I usually suggest that they avoid transitions.  I happened to see a Peter McKinnon video today on making your own transitions, and did a very short video on it.  Take a look and give me your thoughts.  A link to his full video is in the response section of this posting.

I think it all depends on the subject matter you are trying to convey from your videos. If you are using many frames in your videos than transitions are the way to go, if you have only a handful of frames then it may be a little too busy?

The transition in the above  video was very unsettling and uncomfortable.  If it were made shorter (fewer frames), it might work better, but it was undesirable the way it is above (to me).

That is actually a really good production if you ask me.
Super sound, great footage, good voice.
I really like him
Thanks for sharing that.

Oh, and the transitions need a lot of practice if you ask me.
Hard to match them and you need this type of music Peter uses (what's in a name )

After posting my video, I went back and looked at Peter's again.  I think he intends those to be used between two scenes with movement in them, unlike what I did.  I still need lots of practice with it, but I'll also use them very sparingly.

Don't think I am good enough to make those kind of transition like Peter did.
For now I will keep doing it in my editing software.

Thanks StanfordWebbie for the post.
By the way I do like your intro to your videos.

I must admit I like them too. But I'm not sure when and where I will be able to use them.
Maybe not with the Osmo, as it will dampen the movement too much.
And indeed sparse.

You're right.  But I think the bigger fix is to use them when there's actions in the two clips on either side.

Have to agree with that.  After watching the second video, I have no problem with it on his examples, but  the OP's example just didn't work for me.  It needs to fit into the video (and sound when possible), and in a much longer video than the OP's.
