Muir Woods National Monument is an amazing place to hike and see the giant redwoods.  It's located just north of the Golden Gate Bridge.  You can hike from the visitor center all the way to the coastal beaches.

On this day, we covered 8 miles of trails, and here is some of the stuff we saw!

Beautiful day there - lucky you should catch it without a heavy veil of fog in place - fantastic shots, dare i say "cinematic" in composition and flow, enhanced perfectly by your expert post-production work. Thanks for sharing a rare glimpse of a sunny afternoon on the Central CA coast.

I was so happy about the weather, since the forecast was for cruddy weather. It was cold, but super clear. Sounds like you are familiar with normal NorCal weather... you just never know if you’ll be able to see at all.

It is incredible. The park is so big too there are so many different trails to hike.

Went there 2 years ago but only recently got a Spark. It’s a beautiful place and seeing it from the Air is awesome. Would love to go back to Joshua Tree National Park and fly over that.

Sorry to say, but I don’t think you can fly in any National Park. Maybe with special permission but not normally.

It's sooooo cool!  I meant to bring my prop guards so I could try the tracking feature in the woods, but I totally forgot them and I didn't feel comfortable trying it without them, especially considering my track record on crashing.

I'm trying to save up for an osmo, which is probably a better tool anyway since there were 3 in our party.

Nice job.  I'm heading out there in a few weeks.  Wouldn't have thought to take my aircraft.  Will reconsider!  Thx for the thought!

It's an amazing place.  Just be careful, because inside of the borders of the park, drones are not allowed, but there are plenty of places on the outskirts to use them.  Also, I think "if a drone flies in the forrest and no one is there to hear it, did it actually fly?"

And of course I don't mind.  All of my videos have sharpening applied and basic color grading.  For the sped up parts, I just clip and speed up the clip, and for the slowed down parts, I slow down the clip and use the built in frame bending in Final Cut Pro X.  What editing software do you use?  If you're using the same software, I can get more technical, but what I'm doing is specific to FCPX.  I've used some other software, but this is what I have access to currently.

Well put.  I appreciate that you posted that caution for all of us to read / heed.  I always check AirMap and Blue before flying anywhere, whether flying Spark or MP.

We tried to make it all the way to stinson beach, but we were on a time crunch and we took a wrong turn, so we didn't make it.  We did 8 miles in about 3.5 hours though, which is not too bad!

I've never been to pismo, but they rent ATVs there and you can rip on the dunes.  I imagine that would make for pretty incredible drone footage!

I've also never been to Morrow bay, but all of the bays on the California coast seem to be pretty majestic.  just fly around a LOT and record everything.  Then, when you get it all on your computer, delete the boring stuff.

If you're around in the summer months, I'm sure there will be whales swimming around.

Cool video just be careful. 36 CFR 1.5, makes it illegal to fly in national parks. and State parks are also illegal too.
