Hi,

my settings : d-log +1 -1 -1

I own the polarpro ND filters, a brand new mavic pro and I shoot in RAW and 4k @ 25fps

I took several pictures with the mavic and they all turned out bad and out of focus. Same with the video footage. I feel like they aren't crisp & sharp even after post editing with the polarpro LUT's and by increasing sharpness.

Any ideas?

here is a dropbox link of a unedited video I shot of a yacht and some girls dancing (lol)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/n3txeaputf1zfe5/DJI_0001.MP4?dl=0

can you check what I am doing wrong?

Did you tap to focus on the horizon to bring the whole image into focus? If so, reset the camera within the app and see if that improves things for you. You may also want to set the video to NTSC to record at 30p - 25p is for PAL which is mainly for Europe (see you are in the US on your profile).

thanks for your reply.

Not sure what tatoo focus is but I clicked on the girls to focus (AE) and it's still not really sharp

I'm pretty sure it's set to NTSC

If shooting +1 you will get a lot of noise and only way to fix is to denoise.  Why I recommend to change to 0.  There is a way to denoise it but it takes a lot of work and some other software.  I would try either at 0,-1,-1 at 4k or you can go +1,-1,-1 if shooting in 2.7k.  I am downloading the file and going to see what I can do.

You won't be able to record at 25p if it's set to NTSC

Thanks a lot! I've noticed the noise and always wondered why I have it since these were the most common settings people recommended online.

Since I watch the majority of my videos on my ipad Pro 2nd Gen or macbook pro 15" I don't need to record in 4k right? Since none of these devices support 4k if I am not mistaken.

Please let me know what magic you can do once downloaded

There was a big difference between the first and second video.
The second one was much sharper and had better color.
You did good.

is there a way to find out what DJI settings I used after the fact by viewing a .dng file? f.e. did I use +1 -1 -1 or 0 -1 -1 ?

Not that I am aware of.  But it did show that you were at 4k 30fps.  Do not think the file has a way to show the sharpness it was shot in though.  I very well could be wrong though.

Thank you very much.  The many Adobe Premiere  tutorials have helped me.

I double checked last night and I do shoot in 4k at 30fps in NTSC
