I notice that some of the problems mentioned are caused by bad USB cables to the remote. Is there a way to test these cables? Some app that will point out a problem. I must have twenty of the things and it would be nice to identify the bad ones before I put my P4 at risk.

Here are a few ideas that might work for you:

- Test all of your cables and discard any that do not work
- Replace cables after they show visual signs of damage
- Keep a spare cable in your bag/case so you have a spare ready if needed
- Buy some kind of cable tester that is able to test the cables electronically to confirm they are in working order

Does it charge?
Does it move data?

To many to mention, just Google it, there are hundreds of cable testers rule of thumb tho is don't buy any from Wal-Mart

I only buy  USB cables for my iPads or Phantom 3 Pro', at the Apple Store...
