Very happy I got to take out my Spark this week. During this flight, I experienced my first flyaway/compass error. The issue resolved itself within a few minutes, and I was back to flying.

Thank you! And immediately after lift off, the compass wasn't functioning properly. I was receiving the "calibrate compass" message, and the drone was flying straight forward on its own. It almost flew into my car, but I managed to fly it in the opposite direction, where it gained GPS and behaved normally. I'm not really sure what happened

OK. Am I correct to understand that it went into GPS mode shortly after take-off except during lift-off? How long was your total flight time? Thank you.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. The Spark was able to achieve GPS connectivity shortly after lift-off; the compass error only took place during the first 20 seconds or so of lift-off. I believe my total flight time was around 14 minutes and 10 seconds.

Wow, 14 minutes and 10 seconds is a very long flight. I thought you might have immediately landed the Spark once you noticed the compass issue. I give you credit for staying the course with your Spark and in the end having a successful flight. Good job.

Haha thanks! Yea, it was risky of me to continue the flight, but I felt confident that the issue was resolved. I also really wanted to get some pictures, so I may have been a little anxious.

Well if everything works out then you can't second guess your flying, it's only in the event something goes wrong it's then that you can second guess your flying.
