Basically a new camera that can see through thick smoke to S&R operations - ingenious but not for the consumer. No drone.

I agree, not for us

DJI online store - $1,099 for the basic kit. Best Buy are out of stock on the MPP.

Im gonna order it on the DJI site, save on taxes and duty..fast shipping too...and a student discount on top of it!

Unfortunately not. That camera will be around ten grand and you'll need a Matrice 200 series to use it!

You'd never need it mate - it's for highly qualified fire officers to find people in burning buildings. It's an industrial platform above the Inspire 2.

Guess so. One thing I have learnt since I started this hobby is that it can become addictive. Everything I see I want. Just need to get my Mrs Finance Minister to give the budget speech before going on a shopping spree.

Tell me about it - though I find that once you find your niche and needs it settles down more. I've sold a lot of my gear and seem to be content with the MPP at the moment. The wife is already aware of an MP2 coming soon LOL

Gave up a bad hobby(Casino) for drone flying. Wife happy at first but now she is regretting it.

At least you can sell drones if needs be - you can't sell gambling losses LOL
It's a great hobby but just get what you really need mate - you can spend thousands on stuff that collects dust!

Whoever did must have been really naive, sorry to say it so frankly. It was very clear from the announcement that it would deal with a professional solution/device. And whenever the Mavic II might be launched, be assured that there will be a big show in livestream.

Look at it from a business perspective - why the hell would DJI release a drone that everyone wants to buy two months after a major release (the Mavic Air) - whilst still selling the Mavic Platinum to the point of it being sold out in Best Buy etc - they will need to clear existing stock and wait for sales on the Air and MPP to settle. There will also be massive distribution plans on a global scale that will need to be prepared etc etc - we won't see the second generation of the Mavic Pro this side of probably the fall IMO.

I wouldn't upgrade my MP or even swap with a MA as I have invested in accessories that make the MP work well for me. The other reason is the MA is a decent enough product, however it isn't enough of a step change for me to consider. If the spec of the MP or MA price point suit your drone requirements, I would go for it as they are both a great product. Hold fire If you are someone who wants the latest and greatest Dji product and your budget is less constrained as I think a new product isn't too far down the line.

If you order from DJI, be sure to do a comparison between the MP, MPP, and FlyMore options against the Alpine White MP... It's going for $1099 US and still seems like a good deal .... extra sets of props and two extra batteries.

Not sure why people really thought MP2 was anywhere near release...MA was essentially v2, don't expect a new MP or MAv2 for at least a year, don't get caught up in the rumors....though, of course, I wouldn't mind more hardware updates, its just not how it works.

Thanks, but i think since the MP2 will be later on this year, i think im better off getting the platinum with it being less noisy and more battery time. All 3 drones are kickass tho!

Maybe consider the MP instead of the platinum.
That is about the same drone, but a bit more quiet and a little more flight time.
But also more expensive.

Question. What exactly do you want to do with your drone.
1.) Fly fast in and out of obstacles
2.) Fly for a very long time at a stint.
3.) Take professional movie grade clips (with no commercial gains)
4.) Take professional movie grade clips (for commercial gains)
5.) Just have the coolest drone on the block.
6.) What are you going to do with the movies and pics.
7.) Do you want to be a "range junkie"
8.) A "height junkie".

Just start building a list and then allocate in order of importance what it is YOU want. The Mavic Pro is a very very good aircraft for what it does. It is not going to allow you to make the next star wars movie. The camera is more than adequate for most hobby needs. The Mavic Air is cool but flies shorter but has a "better" camera (better than what - not too sure yet). The Mavic Pro Platinum is quieter but hey it's relative, sure it's quieter in your lounge and garage but vat 20m you cant hear any of them, but it is cool I would love one too.

The point I am making bud is any of these machines will probably give you what you want once you identify it. Have fun buying it and more fun flying it. Last word, you can speculate all you like on the Mavic Pro 2, not a hell of a lot they can improve on at the current price point except the camera ---- but I promise you my Mavic Air 3 or Mavic Pro 4 will be better when it comes out and I buy it. You can never catch technology it will always run away from us. ha ha ha ha.
