I take the spark hiking a lot, and have gotten up to 7500 or so ft...
What can you do?

I took my Spark to the highest point I can find and reach, right now, ~ 8400 feet/2500m
Only to find these:

7249.jpg 7247.jpg

So it is just around 5000 feet/ 1500m till now

>>I don't mean after takeoff, since that would be 400'.<<

But I am sure that you are wrong here

Currently ~1600m for me, but I should be able to bump that over 2000m this weekend if my phone doesn't shut off from the cold during my flights and erase my flight records!

I took off in Lake Tahoe from about 8,700'.  I doubt I'll beat that any time soon if ever.

Mount Fuji is 3.7km tall. A modded Mavic Pro can fly over 4km in altitude, which means you can fly the drone from the bottom of the mountain to the peak in 15 mins.

That's something to think about...

I wonder how the regulations would treat that? Technically you could easily keep it within 120m AGL or whatever the limit is in Japan for the whole ascent and descent. Either way I would totally watch that video!

I flew my Spark near Vail Colorado at an altitude of 11589 feet. It warned MAX MOTOR OUTPUT through the whole flight and a wind gust just about blew it away. I did NOT fly again at that altitude, and flew from a lower part of the mountain in an area that was shielded from wind.

Is that you in the lower left corner of the photo. Very cool... if it's you. Nice pic regardless.

Thanks! Not me, but one of my friends that was with me on the trip. I was still at the top of the run piloting the Spark to get footage of my friends skiing before I landed and then skied down to meet them at the safe spot down there.

I thought I had snapped a pic of myself with the Spark up there, but I must've missed the shutter button on the screen with my finger while looking at Spark for the photo. Should've used the physical button on the remote or double-checked the pic as I think it would've been another cool shot!

Nice pic. I should have taken a selfie/dronie while I was in the Rockies. Next time.

So I took the Spark on a hike yesterday.  It was a great day with not much wind.
The spark flew great at 10,800 or so feet ASL.

Not quite as high as Bing's, but I saw no errors whatsoever.

Not sure if I am adding the video properly.  It may take me awhile to figure that out.
