Both failing in same night.   What are the odds...

Clarifying:
Update each, then charge each?
Charge each, then going to update each?

Where I am going is - Is something wrong with the charger, that caused both to be damaged.
Or bad update caused a problem.

ADDing - Did you see or feel any static discharge while handling the Remotes?   The remotes should be hardened against ESD, but I have seen a few things get Zapped and die.

Two remotes being charged by different charging methods and both die.  That's a strange one.

?? That would point to something happening before you got them out to charge or as you were getting them ready to be charged ??

Figured not.  But running out of things that would cause both to fail.

How old are the remote controllers?
Been stored for a long time?

Wondering if internal batteries went bad due to age and long-time storage.

I wonder about that too.
But when he said one remote was being charged by his Mac's USB port.  A power surge should have fried his Mac too.

Saw this:
Please turn off remote,
press C1+C2+ Record+ Camera settings dial at the same time,
then turn on remote

And this:
C1 + C2 + Camera setting wheel press + Shutter button above settings wheel all at the same time
and it will power on

And this from Admin here:
press and hold C1 + shutter button and power on the RC at the same time.

I know what I would do at this point, but I can't suggest it being it would void any warranty that is left.

Perhaps somebody else here knows the "Magic Bullet" solution.

Sorry.

Can you connect to either remote with DJI's Downloaded Assistant program running on Mac?  Then force a firmware change?
In few cases, people were able to downgrade or reload firmware on their Remotes to get them working again.

Since, your under a time crunch with weekend trip coming up, it might be worth the attempt.
