Head tracking not activating.  I get a warning "try again after disabling gimbal downward" .
What does that mean, and how do I do it?

Well, I restarted everything and the issue disappeared.  I was just wondering if it was another of the 1,000 settings I should know about (new user, you know...)  Thanks for helping.
