When I plug my S8 into my Mavic Air RC, the RC starts charging the phone.
Is there a way to switch this off, as I don't want my ROC's battery to deplete

Hi. This is mostly an inconvenience. Why is this so? So the RC battery is draining quicker to charge your phone...
This is normal with Android phones. If you want to reduce the effect, charge your phone before flying. But anyway the charging effect will not reduce your flighttime unless you have really many batteries for your AC.
It's never been a problem for me. By the time I've exhausted my 3 Mavic batteries, there's still plenty (usually 70%) of charge on the remote (and my phone).

I'd like to have this feature with my iPhone!!! With my Phantom I could recharge my iPhone while I'm flying. With my MA, I need to remember to recharge my iPhone every time before to fly because DJI GO app drain my iPhone's battery.
So it's not a problem. It's a pro
