invested in a sun hood for my MP, this is just because I have intentions on getting the ND filters later on, so until then the sun hood will have to do, do any of you people use a sun hood?

I thought as much, but wanted to confirm.  Have a look at this and make your own mind up.

There's two types of sun hoods: 1) the type that go over the controller antenna or around the RC and cover your smart device screen; 2) the plastic piece that assembles underneath the gimbal....I take it yours is #2?

Note: Sun Hoods generally will obstruct your photo or video images when flying the Mavic Pro in Sport Mode

yes David that's the one,  I looked at the video that was sent and to tell you the truth the hood doesn't make that much of a difference.

I use the sun hood .
I feel it might give some shade but most of all I think it might give some protect to the Gimbal in case of a crash.
I have no problems with seeing the sun hood unless I speed forward quickly or stop quickly and it is easy to edit those scenes out.

I had one with my first Mavic and used it twice - I found it more difficult to gaige which ND filter to use as created a darker image. I didn't buy another for my MPP and haven't missed it!

I think it's more of a detriment than a plus if you install it to use. The fact that there's some obstruction with imaging when using it is enough of a discouraging factor for me.

well David I must agree with you but then I ask myself why would they even fabricate such a thing if it's not or barely work? I don't mind paying but at least make sure that it works.

I think you can see the effectiveness of the sun hood by watching this video of a guy who used it and encountered the obstruction while flying in Sport Mode. You should watch this video before buying so you can see what to expect exactly and if it's worth buying in your case?:

That should allow you to get some more range and distance with your Mavic Pro. BTW, how do you like your Mavic Pro?

I just love it but it will take me a bit longer to become more confident in my operating skills, I want to familiarise myself with all the fly modes then practice.

Yeah the Mavic Pro really handles well and you can see how well it keep its height if you throttle it up and down. It has a distinctive sound to it that no other drone makes, and the range with OcuSync is truly awesome. I think it's the best drone on the market, if you ask me.

I use the camera sun hood all the time now  - as I mostly fly when the sun is low in the sky, and the hood gives me that bit extra degrees without lens flare. I also use an ND32 most of the time as well. The sun hood offers a small amount of side protection for the gimbal and camera. I tend to not fly in Sport Mode as I've setup my MPP for slow cinematic filming.

I bought a lens hood. Sounded like a good idea, but it almost never covers the sun with wide lenses like ours, sometimes it gets in the shot (not necessarily in sports mode, just if it's windy) and actually, lens flares can be pretty cool.

I think the person flying the Mavic Pro did a great job and he was very adventurous in his flying.

He actually lost his Mavic Pro in a subsequent flight flying over a body of water,

The accident happened while he was flying the Mavic Pro down low, he went too down low and the Mavic Pro landed over the water and was submerged. He tried to do a search and recovery of the Mavic Pro but there was no sign of it down under.

Here's the video of the accident:

aaahh - thats heart breaking. hope he gets another cause his videos were very good.
Perhaps my biggest daily fear is causing my mavic to take a swim.
You gotta keep a fine eye on the left stick and altitude meter when close over top of water.

Far too low over water. Sensors would have gone into doofus mode and a possible auto landing.
