Hello guys,

I am considering buying a DJI Phantom 4 Advanced. But I am hesitating because of all the rules here in the Netherlands. Is it worth to buy one considering I live in Eindhoven?
I've checked the No-fly zones here but they are different everywhere I look. Please help.

The rules are rather strict here indeed.
The law is even more strict.
In short: stay away at least 50m horizontally from everything man made.
Luckily the rules are still in place and they are less strict.

But still: any built up area (bebouwde kom) is a 'no go'.
Also roads, houses, industry, railroads etc.....
And don't forget harbors....
So you're left with some woods and grass to film.

If you fly by the rules of course.

If you care about the hobby, don't fly there.


Also note that the upcoming EU legislation has a couple of categories.
The first two go up to 900gr and are 'ok' for pilots.
Anything more heavy will require more from the pilot.

Nothing certain of course, but it looks like a P4.... will require more tests etc.

Also, do you know if Media Lease to go is a good place to buy/lease a drone?

You're welcome.
They are very close to where I live.
But leasing is rather expensive. Just do the math yourself (monthly amount * nr of months = almost double the price)

You pay far too much if  you lease your drone and buy it later.
Better to save some money and buy what you can afford.

That’s true. I would end up paying about 1800 for the phantom 4 advanced, paying for 36 months.

So close to double.

Never buy stuff you can't afford now.
Spend only what you have.
Unless it is a study or a house

Just my thoughts of course

Or look on Marktplaats.
You can find very decent deals on DJI products if you can wait for a little.
Many people buy these expensive toys and find out it is more difficult and time consuming then they expected.

Also, there are discounts or promotions on our official website sometimes, get the right drone at the right time will save you more.

I am once in a while looking at the refurbished ones, but I don’t find the deals I am looking for. (at least not at the right time.
I’ve also checked the geo map a couple of times and also crosschecked with the official no-fly zones here in the netherlands, but they don’t 100% match up, as Eindhoven on the DJI map says it is a warning zone instead of a no-fly zone. So that’s what is confusing me.

DJI does not know everything.
I would always prefer local / official information over the one DJI is giving.
Consider the fly safe database as a bonus.

The local regulations also play an important role in the flying. If you have got the local authorization, you can send an email to flysafe@dji.com for unlocking.
