Sounds stupid, but i cannot activate the aircraft.
Have succesfully updated all firmware for both aircaft and RC.
Logged in to DJI Pilot app (downloaded from DJI site) - didn't ask for activation as some tutorials suggest on youtube
Can see through camera on tablet/phone and calibrate no problem.
When i go to start up motors, i get "Please activate the aircaft".
No aircraft shown in DJI Pilot under User Centre, flight records.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ensure that the DJI Pilot app version is updated to v1.1.0 for Andriod or v1.1.1 for iOS before you attempt to activate the aircraft.

I found it every so slightly sketchy. Make sure aircraft is on, and remote is on. If your app open before doing this restart the app.

Also when you come to final activation bit it failed multiple times for me, so i just repeatedly pressed it till i got it to work.

Well, with help from DJI's excellent 24/7 chat helpline i solved it.
Simple fix - unplug cable (RC to craft) and re-plug in. Activation screen came up, all good.
Thanks for help anyway

I know this is a old thread but for the new people like me that are still looking at it. Simply put, the error of "You must activate your aircraft first" is referring to the activation screen at the start of the app on your android or Apple device. It is a series of simple setup questions you have to answer. Just restart the app (I had to do it several times) and the activation screen will come up.  Go thought this set up and your aircraft motors will actually start. I thought at first that something was wrong with my motors but it was this. Hope this helps!

FIXED: For those still having the "Activation Fail" message. I fixed it by reinstalling the RC firmware! I did that by holding down the Academy Icon for 5 seconds while everything was connected (RC + Phone + Aircraft).  I hope this helps you guys!

I sent in my P3P for repair and DJI sent me a new drone and said I would need to activate it but when I fired it up to check the settings, I was able to fly it without any issues. I never saw a screen in the Go App to activate the new drone. I just assumed it was sent to me already activated. Should I log out of the Go App and Log back in to see the activation prompts?

Hello, I tried all of this. What else could I do? Any ideas?
What I did:
- replaced the center board
- no gimbal, no camera, no gimbal controller on the drone

I always get the info: warning - activate device

Maybe there are other solutions

Greetings

For me i kept the drone off turned on the remote plugged in my device went into camera view, on the live view screen i tapped on the top left next to the DJI icon where the Overal Status is "click remote upgrade" After doing the firmware update, turned off remote. Turned on the remote, Turned on the drone, and connected my device and was able to activate the aircraft and do the drone firmware updates as needed.
