I love the course lock feature in the Mavic Pro and Phantom Series of drones. Any chance we'll see this in a future firmware upgrade for the Mavic Air?

You can get the same effect if you use Tap to fly in free mode, while waiting for Course Lock to be introduced.
In theory, yes, but they aren't the same.
There's a reason why CL exists with the Phantom and Mavic Pro series of drones....it's a specifically useful mode.

You may or may not get Course Lock in future updates but you will not get any better use from it than you can get with tapfly free mode.
It’s about being creative and using your imagination.
Would love to see TapFly Free and TapFly Reverse added to the Platinum in future. I fly mode 1, and Course Lock doesn't work the same way as it does in mode 2, in which you guys push the right stick to fly forwards and control the yaw with the left stick.
Tap fly crudely directs the drone to a point you've selected on the screen. Course lock is a more precise way to accomplish the same thing. Here's a really good explanation of how it works and why you might want it.

Totally agree - along with waypoints this is arguably one of the most useful features on DJI drones.
