Mini 2 or newer. I use mini 4 128GB WiFi only with my Mavic Pro and love it.

The real question is which iPad to use with DJI GO.
Despite what the compatibility chart says, do not try to use DJI GO with the iPad Mini 2 or earlier. You need the A8x CPU as a minimum for GO to handle the video decoding adequately.
