Hi guys, I'm very curious what solutions you use for takeoff and landing. Very often the ground is not even enough or the grass is simply very high (I can still smell the grass on my props ) - what do you do in such situations?
Landing pad? Hand launch? Something else?
Please share your ideas!

I very much like to take off from my hardcase. It keeps the AC away from wet or muddy underground or high grass as you mentioned (or even from potential interference) but I have also bought a landing pad recently.

Cool idea! As for the landing pad - which one have you purchased? And do they differ much from photo reflectors apart from the design? Because they look very much alike!

Using an old door mat or a mat from the car when I'm away from home.

Regards Leif.

With my forum points I bought the small one from the DJI store but you find that easily as well on the usual sales platforms.

Landing pad unless I've gone on a long walk to get to my location and left the pad at home in which case I'll hand launch.

I Have 3 types of pads I use on different occasions.
One is the DJI landing pad which is on the light side and the wind can catch it.
One is from Ultimaxx which is a rubber back pad that works well in the wind.
The last one is home made and out of wood. Use it when I fly from Home.
Instead of the landing pads I have done hand catching . It was Scary at first but after seeing Videos on it I got the courage to try it.
Haven't hand launched yet, Still working up to that.

I always hand launch and catch. If it wasn't so easy, I might try something different.

Considered getting a landing pad. So far have used my case as a base will be looking into other options. Do have a photo reflector that may use as a trial next time out.

Is the Ultimaxx heavier than the DJI pad?

The Ultimaxx is more like a quarter inch rubber doormat. It is a bit smaller in diameter then the DJI pad.

Launching is was never scary. Catching made me a little nervous the first couple of times. I decided that I need to get good at it because there would be times when I would have to do it. But now, it's so easy, I don't bother with the ground any more.

Why not ? There is no one saying the thing has to cost a lot of money and have a printed "H" on it.

Hi, a landing pad is recommended, you can purchase it from DJI official online store from the website: https://store.dji.com/product/pg ... lt-v2&vid=22731, thanks!

Yes, agree with you. It is important to take good care of the drone and keeps it away from wet, muddy underground and high grass. Hope you have a good time on flying the drone.

I use a rubber-backed mat that is quite heavy (so doesn’t need to be anchored to the ground) if i’m on dusty or sandy ground, or the PGYTECH landing gear if i’m on grass. The mat stops dust swirling up, and the landing gear gives good clearance over the blades of grass.

I’ve never hand-launched but have hand-caught when landing a few times (normally just to show off when people are checking out the drone, lol).

I imagine it's convenient, nothing to carry and far from any dirt
