Hi, I was flying with MA today = 93m from me and 100m above ground with no obstacles between me and drone. Suddenly I lost connection, MA's rear diode started blinking yellow. Led on controller blinking red. I was hoping for RTH after few seconds, but instead drone started flying forward, far away from me.
I was pretty scared What can you do in this situation? Can you try to turn off/on controller and hope for reconnection? Luckily after I would say 20s drone flew back and began to descend - no reconnection between MA and controller. I would like to know what happened, but flight log ends right in the moment of disconnection - so no useful information is here. I downloaded flight log from MA (.dat file) but DatCon is unable to read it (Note: The Mavic Air .DAT will probably be encrypted and cannot be processed by either DatCon or CsvView).

When the AC lost connection to the RC it should have initiated Failsafe RTH which by your description I believe it did. Your perception of it flying away from you may have just been the AC climbing to it's preset altitude before returning. Can't say for sure I wasn't there. Can you upload the flight log and post the link back here for a look/see?

I thought the same thing, but my RTH altitude is set to 100m so drone were already in this altitude.

How could you see the rear blinking LEDs when the aircraft was 93m away and 100m high??

Axeli, concerning to the short range issue, please try different places and do more tests. Remember to keep the RC antennas pointed correctly to the drone, update the firmware if it is necessary.

Was having this problem for months. Same with others on the boards. DJI is very little help with this. If it persists, you have a faulty drone. Hope I am wrong, good luck
