This has probably been covered before - but in strong winds - position your home point downwind from your upwind work. In this case you always have a wind-assisted RTH. In other words you will come home FAST with a ground speed equal to the "calm-air-RTH-speed" PLUS the wind speed. You will ZOOM home at critical battery levels. Even a quarterly down wind home point will assist the RTH speed if you can't position home directly down wind.
