Very nice video, the opening scene was particularly cinematic. Last time I was in Jakarta was 1981, it seems to have changed quite a bit since then  Wish I'd had a drone back then when we went to Borobudur!

1981? wow, I wasn't even born yet, lol. Borobudur temple is indeed a majestic place and make for a fantastic aerial footage, you should revisit sometime!

Yeah, I know .. I'm an old fart   We spent a day at Borobudur, and a few days in Yogyakarta back in 1981. The temple is amazing, and would be a perfect place for arial footage (if it is allowed)

Hmmm, I've watched quite a lot of aerial Borobudur temple footage on YouTube. so (maybe) it is allowed, or maybe not, I don't know , LoL. But Borobudur temple is in my list for cinematic aerial footage, will get the footage eventually

Awesome footage and great editing. My wife is Indonesian and of course I love the country. Such a dynamic and interesting culture!

I visit Jakarta often and have never thought of bringing my drones as I've always just thought it is not allowed to fly as it is a city. What exactly are the rules to flying drones in Indonesia and specifically Jakarta? Google searches tend to show conflicting views.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you!, as for the rules in Indonesia it is not as strict as it is in the US or EU, you can fly above ppl here and they won't complain (of course you still have to use common sense and use your best judgment) ppl are more "friendly" towards drones here, you can also fly at night and near buildings with no problem (again, use common sense and your best judgment), don't fly over temples (but I've seen lots of aerial videos on YouTube featuring temples, and it was uploaded by Indonesians too, so I dunno) but beware when playing drones in areas such as near shopping malls, the security staff may forbid you doing so, I have experienced this about 3 times at 3 different malls (they got scared that I was spying their mall/work for their competitors I presume). specifically in Thamrin street, where Selamat Datang monument's at, there's a special rule to not fly over 100 meters high (helicopters often fly low around this area). you may wanna check on this link : http://jdih.dephub.go.id/assets/ ... M_47_TAHUN_2016.pdf

it's the official rules and regulations about usage of drones in Indonesia, taken directly from the government's website, ask your wife to help you to translate it
