We have so many great cinematographers and wonderful videos here on the forums, which makes me wonder - How many batteries do you usually use up to edit a single video?
Do you plan your shots and make multiple takes?

Obviously long videos take more recording time, but I'm asking about the typical 3-5 minute video.

Please share in the comments also which bird you use with how many batteries!

I average 2 batteries for a 2-4 minute video depending on subject content, flying conditions ect... lots of variables determine how many batteries you need.

Can only agree with QuadKid here, some times I even go back to get the "missed" part on a location (If it's around the corner).
Luckily there are no restrictions on it :-)

As many as it takes, sometimes only 50% of battery sometimes 5.

Sometimes just a single battery or sometimes three.  Really depends on what I am trying to get and the length of each clip.  But usually I find that number is 2.

Typically one. But as others stated depends on the subject matter and if it’s for work or play.

I’m not to sure how other people shoot video, but when I’m shooting I tend to turn on camera from the get go and don’t turn off until I land.
I also find if I have extra batteries and I have travelled a distance to location to try at least 2 takes and use up batteries taking extra footage, with MavAir I have 5 batteries Mavic Pro I have 5 and p4p I have 7 spark I have 6, so if I’m shooting I use all I have with me,

Taking today as an example - I flew three batteries on my MPP and took 38 minutes of footage yet to be edited. I'd normally keep about 5 minutes of that and bin the rest. Editing videos is not my thing though LOL

if it is apparent then forgive me for stating the obvious: i have yet to reach the level of planning my videos. My method is to fly my 4 batteries each session - during that time i record what ever looks interesting and sometimes try to practice pans and other techniques.
Then i review the clips and try find some music that i think i can listen to a gazillion times over and over again and then i try to find video clips that kinda meet the music.
i got a long way to go so this may be a good example of how 'not to do it' :-)

Previous flights no clear plan and exhaust batteries as and when, we generally go from location to location, changing areas frequently looking for different angles of approach.  So a battery for each drone on each location.

Starting to plan flights more methodically now, for specific reasons.

I usually use all of my 3 batteries to be sure I have all the possible clips to make the final video

Sometimes less, it really depends on what I ma filming and if it's planned or not!

It just depends on what I'm shooting. I'm not always taking videos as I tend to take more stills than video.

It depends, majority of my clips are one battery, but there some combined of 2 to 3 ( I do not recall any clip which took more than 3 )

Yeah there is nothing worse than exhausting all batteries and having to go charge them up again.

I know right, you finish shooting and a wonderful sunset appears and you are all out of batteries.

I'm flying the Mavic Air.  I usually use 2 full batteries, and then a fraction of the 3rd.  I'm new to the editing portion, so I tend to end up with duplicate video shots, but i've learned that having more is better than not having enough.  I have planned my shoots, and i typically know what i want to get and have a good idea of how i want it to flow.

I have 3 batteries.  I'm planning to order a 4th.  as long as i'm near my car, i can get about 1.5 hours of flight time before i have to break.  and like GoldenSun and M2WAir said, that's normally about the time the perfect lighting comes up and i miss it because i'm in the middle of a charge cycle

It's quite depend on what you want to shoot. Normally I plan how to film before. But sure will use up all batteries try to make it better. I got 4 batteries for Air. If things going well I will try to save one or two batteries. In case see something better later. Will use up all battery before leaving for sure.
