That's what I used to do before upgrading the computer.  You can always change it.

Use what works for you.
If 1080 is the best you can do atm then use it.
You can always upgrade later if need be

Depending on what im doing at the time i change resolution quite often.
Lower resolution means smaller file size allowing for longer videos to be stored on the one sd card

Too many people get caught up in the resolution. In the end it all comes down to what you want to do with the video. I find 1080 just fine for hobby flights and general playback.

You can at any time find a converter for free that can downscale to fit your needs, what you can not do is get the details in that you never did record.
My suggestion would be to record in high resolution so you have the material on store the day you might wanna take advantage of it, some moments just does not show again for a re-take.

May the weather be with you.

my suggestion is to record in best possible format and resolution, later cut-out unwanted parts and just merge into one file without re-encoding.
if you want share your footage with friends/others, or upload on YT, convert to smaller resolution, but keep best for your self and later post production..

EDIT - KedDK just wrote faster

Yes but my message was a little different as OP started to tell that edit was not in scope, then still a "OneClick" conversion from the High res to the lower res material would be an easy option and ImO  and clearly better than shoot in lower quality.

Have fun Owen.
