Did some tests today with the 45mm -175mm lens on my Inspire 2 and was very impressed with the quality.
I started wondering FOV wise how much tighter of a shot is the z30 camera over the 45mm-145mm lens.

The z30 has a field of view of 63.7°(Wide) - 2.3°(Tele). Effective 1200mm

The 45mm-175mm has a field of view of 27° Wide - 7.1° (Tele). Effective 350mm

Doing some more digging the z30 only has an Effective resolution of 2.13 M.
Where the x5s camera has an Effective resolution of 20.8MP.

If you digitally zoomed in the 20mp photo from the 45mm-175mm to 2mp it would be around 3500mm.

Where is the benefit of the z30? Just a bit closer live images I guess.

I will be posting more photos for comparisons soon.

Well as the Z30 isn't supported on the Inspire 2 then it's a meaningless comparison in any case.
Resolution and sensor size are completely different between those two cameras - they are designed for and marketed to completely different use cases.

Others points you have to use in your comparaison are:
  • Stabilization / vibration at high zoom
  • fly time with I2
  • can you use tracking function with I2 and this lens?

I2 + 175mm could be a very great solution because you can record in 5k and get picture from video with better quality (MPX) than with Z30.

Could you also tell me the weight of the camera + lens please?

You can use both the z30 and the 45-175mm on the M200 and M210 though.

  • I am flying with the T motor carbon fiber blades and with full zoom the video is very stable. Now because of the weight change I do not fly fast or aggressive to save the servos from doing too much work.

Correct they are marketed for two different types of work but its interesting how we can get better inspection photos out of the x5s with this lens then the z30 and it costs $1000 less. The z30 $3000 now with the price drop and the x5s costs $1,399 and the lens around $400.

So why post this in the Inspire section?
Put it in with the Pro Systems.

It could be in either. The whole point is that using the inspire 2 with this lens is making the inspire 2 a very capable inspection drone.
