One of the best use of drones is when it is difficult, dangerous or impossible for a person to record video. One example is in high explosive mining. I found this on YouTube and thought it was worth sharing here.

Ya it's awesome. Look at how long those rocks take to come back down.

I'm guessing someone did the math, cause that drone looked to be just outside the frag pattern...pretty cool and lucky too

I wondered about that too, so I looked in the upper right corner and it does not move position for the entire length of the clip. My guess is that it was a fixed camera overlooking the quarry blast site, not a drone, possibly a high speed camera.

I'm not surprised, if that drone had just been about 25 feet closer or more and it could have made for a spectacular wipe out...

Luck played a major part of this video. There were likely rocks falling behind the drone as well as in front of it but they are widely spaced. Here is an earlier video from the same pilot from a more distant location.

The first video is very cool. I was definitely wondering about the rock particles hitting the drone.

Aside from the slight movement from the shockwave, there is some ever so slight readjustments left to right, you can notice it if you keep moving the mouse on the video so it keeps the Watch later clock on screen, i too looked out for this yesterday, watched it numerous times too, love stuff like this

It is still a remarkable video clip, just love those patterns of fast fuses.

It is really awesome and dangerous at the same time. I admire the skill of flight. Please be careful as there is too much smoke and if there is wind, the smoke may cover the camera.
