Hi, a "surprise" this morning!
the gimbal not back in axis with the bow but it remains almost at 30 degrees shifted to the right.
Rebuilt IMU calibration, Compass, Gimbal but nothing it remains in that position.
A compass issue or what?
how do i fix it?

I got the same surprise as you today. And I mean exactly the same surprise.
Youre video could be mine as well. They are exactly the same .
This must be a software problem.
Same question from me
How do I fix it (or when comes a new firmware update)
And do I have to send it back ?

Hi All,

Today I unpacked my Phatom 3 Prof. I charged the battery and switched on the bird just to see it come to life. And it did just what you showed in the video. I still have to perform the firmware upgrade though. See what that does.

After putting the SD card in with the latest firmware (1.1.8) and switching on the P3, the camera was straight as it should be.

Upgrading right now (have to wait about 25 to 30 minutes).

Make sure you have a level area and in the app there is a setting somewhere for advanced IMU calibration. I forget where though haha. But make sure your phantom is placed on a level surface otherwise it could cause more problems. (drift in flight among other things) Ill try and figure out how to do it for you.

After upgrade to fw 1.1.8. all seems to be working as it should. Have to wait till till tomorrow to test fly the P3 for the first time.

Only basic IMU calibration. The advanced IMU calibration is only for Inspire 1.

You apparently have the latest firmware, I and you have calibrated it, so I think there is something wrong with the gimbal and we might need it here for a replacement. Hello Sir,

Please contact your dealer with this issue. They will advise you where to send for repair/service/check.

no i did not
i did it to show that the calibration still works but stays in the 30 degrees to the right position
do you think it is a firmware software issue ?

Have the exact same issue in the Phantom 3 Pro that I got a couple days ago. I updated to 1.1.9 however where the same thing is happening. Autumn- contacting you.

You have to understand that we are talking about very few users that are having issues out of a huge installed base.  The percentage is very small.  It is not an issue unless it is you that is having it.  We try and address each users issues as they arise.  Autumn is doing that.

I have to say am pleased whit DJI,my second drone.

I have the same problem whit my Phantom 3 Pro. Gimbal make allot of buzz,hold my finger on the gimbal plate it is very hot and vibrate periodic.
Calibrate IMU on 100% level,compass calibrate,gimbal calibrate and removed foam/folie.
Get jello on video in air ,also on ground whit motor off.
The buzz come when I slowly move drone left/right

Can this be software or bad Gimbal yaw motor???

Same problem here too with my Advanced, out of the box and after removing the plastic and foam gimbal holders, I started it up and the camera was straight but then I immediately did a firmware update and this happened. Contacted DJI and they were very fast to respond with a request of a video showing my problem. They have now told me to wait to be contacted back to organise a gimbal replacement. Now I play the waiting game......

Dear Autumn,
I was very happy to receive the repaired phantom
I opened the box and I noticed the gimbal protector was of the gimbal
I update the phantom to 1.1.9
Start up the controller
Start up the phantom
Gimbal is acting normal  
Guess what ….
This is what how it looks right now.

You do understand that I don’t like it at all.
I want to return this thing get my money back or I want a complete new one because I don’t trust the delivery from here to you and back again.
I put it in a extra “outside” box with complete “bumb free” material all around it (4sides) when I send it to you.
I received it in a box with only “bumb free” material on 2 side’s.
I call quadrocopterspecialist tomorrow and send it back to them no matter what.
I did buy a ipad mini 2 especially for this phantom (300 euro) so I must have a phantom 3,
But my confidence is getting a little on a test here
Hope you will answer this before I send it back.

My friend i received my P3 back from Schondra today and guess what? It was unrepaired, the same motor made the same scratching noises. They did nothing at all! But the gimbal protection was off when i got it back and i think my gimbal makes strange noises now. Similar noises like you can hear during FW updates but not as loud, its like a terrible beeping sound when the gimbal is scrolled down or when you select gimbal speed in the app. It also makes that sounds when you tilt the Phantom in your hands sometimes. I have the sad feeling that my P3 is worse than before now, a terrible feeling. My Phantom was also not protected, same thing here. I will drive it to them in person if the Gimbal noise is not normal, its only 100km away from here.

Is that normal? I made a video without even starting the motors and it had terrible jello effect and yes i of course removed the foam.


By the way my Gopro had the exact same sensor errors like you have now. They changed the mainboard

They did repair the gimbal that is ok now I think
I’m not even flying this
I’m holding it in my hand
I found out when checking on the table after the firmware update 1.1.9.
But I think the protector is the main problem
I can fall of when in delivery in box and I think it damaged the black cable but im not sure.
I send it back and want my money back.
I don’t want to wait for another 4-5 weeks and then find out it is still not ok and is even getting worse

the gimbal dont make a sound so recording it will not be possible
if the gimbal makes a strange sound I will record it (if i were you) and let autumn see it (and hear it)
and if everything is ok than there is no problem right ?
