As stated before, I made a longer test flight today with my Mavic Pro and (of course) tried to catch some trains in the process

I learned a couple of things.
- Getting 'the shot' you want is harder than I thought and requires a lot of practice.
- I want to tweak my settings a bit more.
- I really like the Mavic Pro

Yes it is. You should not fly over it.
So I did not.

Next flight I will keep more distance, since the field of view of the mavic pro is not that wide and you can easily move back and still get a nice shot.
Looking back I like the shots the most when I got a bit further away, so that will be my strategy next time.

Nice video buddy, wouldn't it be nice if they still had a few steam trains running.

As you said getting the shot you want is hard.
In this case it paid off .
Great shots of the train and I am glad you obeyed the Netherland  drone rules.
We need more pilots like you who know the law and do their best to obey them.

I am still very new at flying, much less working with the camera. However I have a beautiful long rail bridge over water near my home and I want to try to capture the train on that bridge soon.

Thanks a lot, yes that would be great.
I have to move a little further to go to the museum line close by.
But this was 'just' in my lunch break, so not too much time.

Congrats!

Thank you.
I just purchased a nice Sony Vegas Plugin that allows me to add luts.
Visioncolor lut plugin. Very cheap (only a couple of bucks), but works like a charm.
So yes, it was a lut.

Very true. That was why I left the ND filter OFF....
So I could to both.
But I know the dilemma.

I did not run into any problems.
But the train / overhead wires were never between the drone and the RC.
Still I think I will keep more distance next time.
Just to be sure and stay on the safe side of the law.

Nice video, if you shoot in 2k you can use the zoom feature and get a tight shot of the train without having to go too close.

Very nice video.
I can add a little thing. Check your gimbal tilt... it seems to me a little too far to the left.

Nicely done, they might not be exactly what you wanted but they are fine shots and nice edits. We are just inaugurating a new high speed rail in South Florida USA and I've been planning to do a video on it, however schedule down my way is still not set so I'm waiting to see when there is a regular schedule to drop on it in a couple of places outside of the city and maybe a couple of aerial and terrestrial shots (Osmo) in the city by the stations. Trains are interesting subjects, certainly a lot of fun to film and photograph.
