As I am going to Cornwall at the end of this month too, I found your post at the beginning very interesting for me.
Are they really so rigorous that each one flying the drone must inform authorities about it for each flight?
Does this concern even drones under weight of 500g, such is Spark or Mavic air. What harm can such small thing do anyway? At least if you fly pretty close to the ground (not higher than 30m for instance) just to do some shots. Therefore I decided to go there with the Mavic Air and not with the Phantom.
hi i fly a spark drone ,and am .
glad you liked the post, i suggest you download an app called drone assist which will help you,
as its more detailed than the go4 app
what you must bear in mind is that on the Cornish coast you have , Europe's biggest operational helicopter base , at RNAS Culdrose near helston and they fly their choppers on training flights all over ,
Devon and Cornwall at various heights , and its not obligatory for you to phone,
but it is advised , all they want to know is, your name /phone number / where you will be flying/ and
at what height , so they can warn their pilots your drone might be in the area thy are in ,
they want the details just in case they need to get in touch, nothing sinister i assure you,
some drone pilots fly at very high altitudes and if they strike a chopper , in theory they could bring it down ,
i phoned every time and was treated very well and thanked for taking the time to tell them,
as you know drones , havnt had a good press , due to a few idiots being really dense,
as responsible drone flyers we are showing we can work with the air traffic controllers which i think is a good thing
