Anyone know if the new DJI hardcase backpack will work as a carry-on /hand-luggage on flights?

If n ...

I always have taken it as a personal item (as allowed by most of the airlines eg: laptop bag) apart from carry on baggage. No problem so far.  I have traveled around Europe and to India a couple of times via middle east. No problems so far. Once the security guy had to ask his boss to let it through in Croatia security check.

A lot of choices above...I have three methods of transport:
1. For the P2V+ I have a HPRC 2700 black hard case.  It fits everything I have for the P2V+ except the Smart Powercharger but is a bit heavy.
2.  For the P3P I have a Microraptor ProCase with wheels.  It too fits everything I have for the P3P except the Smart Powercharger.  Much lighter than the HPRC case and a bit smaller.
3.  Fearless Backpack - fits both quads (one at a time obviously) and with no modification the controller fits in for the P3 nicely as well.

Items 1 and 2 are waterproof and I really like both cases.  I use them as takeoff/landing platforms.  The backpack has come in very handy as I live in the mountains and there are a lot of places to go that a vehicle just can't get to.  My only complaint with the backpack is it seems very stiff/boxy.  But I guess that is the trade-off to carry it protected on your back.

I use a third-party hardshell backpack, so I guess it qualifies as both a hard case and a backpack. And I clicked on hard case...

Yes and no. The case is small enough to meet the size requirements but, TSA will not allow Lithium batteries to be carried on.

Actually lithium ion batteries are carry on only: FAA battery rules

P3P batteries are 68 Wh, so below the 100 Wh limit for carry on.

Back to the topic: I bought this: DJI Phantom 3 FPV Outdoor Professional Aluminium Alloy Travel Carrying Case and am very pleased with it. Its very durable and now at $90, its a good alternative to a pelican case. I bought this because I can leave the props on. Pictures on the ebay site are accurate and the foam fit is good. I was able to carry on a CRJ100 jet (probably the smallest common commercial aircraft) under the seat in front of me although it took up some of the leg room of the person sitting next to me (my wife). Definitely didn't fit in the overhead. Im headed out on another trip on a larger aircraft and will see if it fits in the overhead.

I got the hardshell backpack by DJI. First of all, it looks nice. And after taking it with me on a mountain climb, it can definitely take a beating. (I slipped on our descent and I fell on my back, but the bag was still fine.) Did I mention I was sweating profusely but there were no signs of sweat sneaking in the bag?

I use the DJI rucksack and love it.

Can store my bird, controller, extra batteries and blades. I also carry a portable charger for the phone, Anemometer and macbook.

One thing i love about it, if I go to a field and it's dirty I can keep in on my back and then can walk and fly without leaving stuff on the floor.

I have bagged myself a B W IP67 hard case, pre cut foam for a P3 with lots of little pockets for stuff, It was not cheap but being German made and manufactured I just know it will offer maximum protection for my bird and bits.

I don't travel with mine, other than to local flying areas.

Here's what I bought.  $30 + $11 shipping.   http://www.ebay.com/itm/Backpack ... :g:MR0AAOSw5IJWeMDr

Arrived in a couple of days.   My P3S fits perfectly.  Only caveat is that props must come off, and of course,  prop guards don't fit.
It's lightweight, and seems well constructed.

Just order the DJI Hard Case it looks to be the smallest, thinnest bag available with decent protection. Mostly will be used rising a motorbike so the thin streamlines shape was the reason I went with it. I've noticed two different version of the DJI Hard Shell backpack, one with a smooth shape/finish to it, and one with quite a knobbly bumpy finish to is, anyone know if there is an difference to them other then the finish?

I just got this hard case from Evilbay and it works great and the price was not bad at all considering the others. It doesn't show it in the pics but you can have the props on inside the case.
