So as far as I'm aware the Mavic Air needs an SD card capable of Class-10/UHS-1 speeds (12.5MB/s) in order to write 4K video.

My SD card is supposed to be capable of 90MB/s read speed and 77MB/s write speeds:

For some reason when I insert the card I get a warning that the Mavic Air can't record 4K as the SD Card is not fast enough.  So I dropped the resolution down to 2K with a higher FPS.  I am on holiday so I took a heap of video recordings, back at the hotel I inserted the SD Card into my tablet and the video would not display properly.

Is this likely to be my tablet that can't handle the video or more likely the SD is not good enough?

Cheers

Ok thanks for the response.  2 things.

1.  Why does that matter is my card not fast enough?
2.  I never said I wanted to do full 4K, as I said atm I'm only doing 2K high fps.

So i do not have an air but a Pro and I tried to be a cheap skate once and got a similar card. The best video i got out of it was at 1080p because while doing 2.7k it gave me blotches some times or the video froze certain times. Best to use the write sd card in the drone to avoid any issues

Again thanks, but the tech spec is not adding up, if it needs 12.5MB/s for 4K but mine can do 77 what is the issue?

That's a good link but as I said I'm on holiday and the only way I can access the content to view it or speed test the card is through my Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5

It was the tablet, I put the card into my S8 which has a more powerful CPU/GPU and the video played with no issues.  Amazing imagery, really happy with the Mavic Air so far.

that 77 is likely the READ speed.  Card manufacturers tend to advertise their Read speed as the card speed.  and when they do mention the write speed, they tend to put the maximum burst write speed instead of themaximum sustained write speed.

With the lareg amount of data being written in even a 2k video, the card needs to be able to handle being written to that fast, for a sustained amount of time.  The U3 cards are able to handle that.

I personally use a SanDisk Extreme card.  They seem to do the trick.
