The same hear as the bottom sensors should keep it from doing so but not going down.

Haha, if you supply the P4 Pro and some prop guards, then I'll supply the chain-mail armour and give it a try

The same hear as the bottom sensors should keep it from doing so but not going down.

Infrared sensors have a lot of latency, hence the lift ascends so quickly that the drone doesn't have time to react. Plus, if you go out now and test fly your Tello, then ascend your hand up towards the bottom of it, you'll find that the Tello does nothing because the IR sensors aren't used for 'obstacle avoidance', only to detect a hand during palm landing.

So what settings were you using during this experiment?  You commented on them, but i missed which you were using.   Or would it really matter?     Interesting video.  Thanks for sharing..

The settings were all stock, no modifications, entirely factory settings whereby the Tello relies on its barometer for altitude control.

This is NOT what happens with my Tello
"... test fly your Tello, then ascend your hand up towards the bottom of it, you'll find that the Tello does nothing..."

My Tello definitely will fly upwards away from a hand, but it is not entirely consistent. I suspect the times when it doesn't do that are probably due to low light or some other effect reducing the ability of the Tello to see what is below.

Putting a hand under the Tello (with prop guards on, flying inside) can cause it to fly up to the ceiling and stick itself there with the suction from the propellors.

No not at all, the Tello is a solid little thing, and impacting the ceiling in that way won't do it any harm.

I had the same question.  Thanks.  I wonder what would happen if the setting are different?

Yeah and these car tests are thoroughly boring and predictable, that's why I did the elevator experiment as I don't believe that it has been done before with any DJI drone!
