So I downloaded the latest firmware 1.1.8 and the install always fails. I've tried re-downloading the package. I've tried different memory cards. I've tried reformatting my memory cards and nothing works. It always fails. The controller however worked.

The battery is fully powered and the controller is off during install.

Now I'm stuck. Help!

There should be a txt file in the root directory of the SD card after the update attempt (sample below) -- what does it say?

For the record, my .txt file says what you see below but DJI Tech Support is telling me it's not actually updated.  I'm still troubleshooting with them and nothing has worked yet.

For clarification, do you have a Phantom 3 Professional OR Advanced?  

Packet: P3S_FW_V01.01.0008.bin - this is for the Advanced

Packet: P3X_FW_V01.01.0008.bin - this is for the Professional

Hmmm, I'm scratching my head... OK, does the file size match what I'm seeing on mine?
(I added your screen capture since you were having problems -- Looks like the byte size matches: 83,649,916)

does it beep without the sd card in?

I had this problem over and over again windows 7 was confirming download to micro sd card successful<.WRONG > the pdf file was okay but .bin file was actualy corrupted during download.remedy download WinRAR worked first time and every time since.this could also account for other systems failing to update.
