So I in general record videos in 1080p ~30fps because I think that 4k generates big files, and it's not everyone that can watch in full resolution, because of internet and monitor quality.

But my question is if I record in 4k and after export for 1080p 30fps, if I can receive better results? Can anyone help with this? Or I'll receive the same result.

May I know what drone you are referring to?

It's a Phantom 4 Advanced. I'm using Sony Vegas for video edition.

Basically, yes.  Even ignoring the possibility to zoom, pan and stabilise when taking 4K to 1080p output, the end result should be better (even if only slightly).

But recording in 4K and render the video in 1080p will look better than just recording on 1080p?

My suggestion would be to stay recording in 4K and convert to 1080. This way all your footage is in 4K and you can’t convert 1080 to 4K.

Guess that would depend on the rendering engine in the software used to scale the video, when looking closely one piece of software possibly would provide a better result than other.

I have a P4 standard, I normally record in 1080p at 30fps too because I don't have a 4k tv. My friend has a 4k tv so I decided to try recording in 4k......neither of us could tell the difference between the 1080 and the 4k.

The best solution is to record and edit in 4K if your equipment can handle it. Most people then upload to YouTube anyway, so you upload the 4K, YouTube then creates all the lower resolution copies and everyone can then choose the resolution they want.

Yes, I should make a test to know which is better. My idea is only to render a video to 1080p. Because not everyone can watch in 4k, so it's only to downsize 4k to 1080p and compare the results.

The moment that you downgrade the video resolution from 4K to 1080P, the result when it comes to quality will be the same as 1080p. Instead of downgrading it, you may want to change the video resolution directly to 1080P. It will be much easier for you instead of downgrading it.

Only till the day you get a better display and regret you didn't record in full resolution when having the possibility.
A little like when we drag out and watch our old video recordings and thinking why on earth did we use LP just to save a little on tapes while kids roll around laughing over the bad Q...

Make sense.

Record in 4k then resize/re-sequence down to 1080 it will make it look better.... plus you can reframe/postion footage...
