Hi all,
Im pretty dissapointed with DJI at the moment.
After buying the Ronin MX being told it was compatible with the follow focus and the GH5 i thought setting things up would be a hitch. However, i've found that the GH5 does not fit the follow focus even with the 15mm rod supports provided unless it has been risen off of the baseplate with a riser- a problem i encountered due to the camera body being so close to the baseplate. This was remedied with a purchase of a cheese plate riser off of amazon. SORTED? no...
Now that i can fit the follow focus motor on to the rod supports the weight is WAY too front heavy. My temporary solution was to strap a battery to the back end of the baseplate to counter the balance.
My question is how do i fix this problem, do i HAVE to get counterweights or am i being a novice and setting this thing up completely wrong? The thing is im also going to need to put a Matte box on this rig in order to place ND filters over my cine lens. surely this isnt possible without adding huge counterbalance weights on the rig?
Anyone with any more knowledge would be GREATLY appreciated as im really keen to get this kit set up ASAP for a few jobs lined up.
slightly saddened with DJI and the need to buy third party parts or just extra parts just to accomodate the follow focus and GH5.
Any help welcome! hopefully the images show my problems.
