D-D-D is Beep Beep Beep.

When you format the SD card (with the app which is for me the best method), the available space is mentioned... if the card is in the slot...

If anyone read the manual, the LED and warnings are on page like 16

And even more importantly (and this should probably go on the "post-flight" / "landing" checklist:  Remember to STOP RECORDING before turning off aircraft. File will be corrupted if you dont.

That's silly, isn't it? Took a 2-week trip to France last month. Used a cheap Mobius action camera as a dash cam - worked out great. No battery, just a capacitor kit and drew power from the lighter/acc socket. When I turned the ignition on the camera started recording. When the ignition got turned off, the camera would write to file, close and turn off. Incredibly simple and added some terrific video we would never have had otherwise.

So here's a $1400 gagdet and it gets hosed if you forget and turn the power off first!

On my very first flight this was not a problem. I was so excited I forgot to press the record button!

Why turn off BT/Wifi.. This is not a Phantom 2 Vision/+??? and You forgot the most important one... MAKE SURE TO PRELOAD THE MAPS  OF THE LOCATION YOU INTEND TO FLY IN..... If you dont have a cell conection available....

Why not turn it off to put all chances on your side (as it works on the same frequency range as Lightbridge) ?!!
Some people have reported disconnection problems solved turning Wifi Off.
But I also note some people like to have problems and want their drones in the air 10 seconds after they are out of the box !!!
Of course I preload the maps or use the cell connection.
Days before I had my P3, the app was installed on my iPad and I spent hours on it to go deeply into each single option (the ones available without the craft connected). And I've read to manual tens of times also before having the P3 in my hands.
Of course this wont prevent me from any problem but at least I do everything to avoid them.

Been flying my P3 and Inspire 1 with wifi/BT enabled on my iPad Air 2 since day one and never had an issue.... People are having problems because of something else.. More than 100+ Flights on the Inspire 1 0 issues.

How do you pre-load the maps?

How do you "CHECK HOME POSITION"?   Where is the home position displayed?

I check the home point is correctly shown on the map and there is also a vocal confirmation.

While you are at home (or have an internet connection) go here to cache the area you plan to fly.

Very nice.

Remember, if you DO forget to stop recording before you turn off the Phantom, don't panic. Just follow the advice from the FAQ and put back your microSD card in the Phantom, turn it on, wait for 30 seconds or more while it fixes the videofile. Turn it off and take the microSD out and take it to your computer (if that is how you transfer files to your computer). You will notice that the videofile it rescued will have a wonky date, but besides that, everything should be hunky-dory.

This is interesting.  I have never once stopped recording via the controller.  When my P3P is on the ground and the motors are off I power down the battery.  I've never lost a video or even a portion of a video.

I wonder if the video software I use somehow accounts for the improperly closed file or if the P3P writes the file before actually powering down.

Good link for Android users, but  iPhone/iPad use Apple Maps instead of Google Maps.

I like to keep my checklist in the back sleeve of a 3 ring binder.

I took the liberty to make the checklist larger and I added color for quicker reference.

this would be different for the standard right, cant turn off wifi...   I think ill download this and modify for my standard thats on the way, this will be a good check list for me to follow.. thanks for that!

Another checklist which can be laminated and each item ticked off with a grease pencil and which can later be wiped clean ready for another flight. If you print it back to back it takes up very little space. With thanks to Ulysse for the original idea.

It would be nice to have the option to activate it in the DJI go app. So that can check all items before takeOff . (Optional & possible to change the list)

New owner of a P3P and first time poster. This checklist will come in handy on my maiden and before all flights! Thanks for putting this together!!  The amount of reading I've done since I got my phantom my brain hurts, but it will make me wiser LOL. Hopefully I can contribute my own experiences with this wonderful community of like minded folks that share the same passion for this awesome hobby.
