All edited using Sony Vegas Pro, its a software package I have cut videos on for about 8 years now and its very good for creating high end videos. I rendered all the footage out at 2K, to get crisp clean shots but also not take a life time to render and then upload as 4K would.
Editing wise I just try to pick suitable music that suits the mood your clips set and then simply cut to the tempo, I try and set a scene with the starting clips, usually low flights before revealing the grander scale shots as the music builds up. I also add background sound to particular clips such as birds and wildlife sounds at the begin of both videos.
Flight wise I always film in cinematic mode or point of interest mode looking at an object or even just out toward the skyline for smooth panoramic shots.
That's about it really
