This looks like an amazing contest, fun, and with really great rewards!! I'll be submitting my photo soon! Good luck to everyone and safe flying!

Scenes from a recent anniversary adventure, my wife and I were the only two people on the trip and the majority of the shots were done using smart capture of the DJI Mavic Air.  Other scenes the remote was hidden behind my back and controls were done to bring the drone closer with only one hand.  

Backlight Photography

Keep the ISO as low as possible

If it's an iPhone use the adjustment bar to the lowest**

I prefer sunset time to capture the sun as it usually looks bigger when you zoom a bit.

The following was taking at the Angel of the North, Newcastle using backlight photography techniques.

• Check the sky for patterns
• A sunny day would bring a clear sky with minimal cloud patterns but a beautiful one.
• Give it a try

Also....... I like symetrical lines / lines / patterns that pleases the eye. Try to understand what's your liking and maybe someone else might like it too. Happy Capturing......

On our journey around Ireland with our DJI drones we visited the Dingle Peninsula.

This is our Travel Tips for Dingle:  

First and foremost you need a good roadmap / Sat Nav or App,  to plan your route around the Peninsula. When you arrive at your preferred flying site, check your flying environment for potential hazzards i.e. Power lines overhead, Re-enforced concrete for your launchsite/ recovery site etc.

The Dingle Peninsula is a beautiful place and with that comes alot of Tourists, it is very heavily congested with Motor Vehicles so I would reccomend using safety cones to safeguard the launch and recovery site of your Drone, and for the Pilots to wear Hi Viz vests to ensure the public are aware of you and the Drone.

I would recomend for the best cinematic filming a maximum height of 400 feet, as this will also conform with local laws and give you the best cinematic results.  But do take into consideration the wind as this is a peninsula and the gusts can catch you unawares.

The Peninsula has many Bed & Breakfasts spread out over the whole area that offer a lovely warm Irish welcome and an ideal place to recharge your Batteries as well as a relaxing atmosphere for you to plan your next flight.

We used the DJI Osmo and 4 different DJI Drones; the Mavic Air, Mavic Pro, Phantom 3SE and Inspire. None of these had any issues whatsoever whilst filming. It is highly recomended to use ND filters for all drones to give you the best cinematic quality. If you haven't got one, do consider using the DJI Osmo for areas where the Drones are not appropriate.

This is our Travel Tips:

Again you need a good roadmap / Sat Nav or App,  to plan your route to the Connemara National Park. When you arrive at your preferred flying site, check your flying environment for potential hazzards i.e. Power lines overhead, Re-enforced concrete for your launchsite/ recovery site etc.

There are no real Lay-by's so you do have to park on the side of the roads, I would recommend a landing mat, Hi viz vest and saftey cones if you have them.

I would recomend a maximum height of 200 feet, shooting with an ND 16 - 32 filter at 24 fps, Iso 100, and shutter speed of 80. Do take into consideration the wind as in the Mountains the weather can change dramatically.

There are some Bed & Breakfasts spread out over the whole area that offer a warm Irish welcome and a relaxing atmosphere for you to plan your next flight. The nearest city is Galway if you prefer a hotel, and exciting nightlife during your stay.
