Does anyone use a regular Ipad with their Phantom 3 Pro? If so, how is it working with IOS. If not, is it too big for the controller mount?

What is a "regular" iPad?  What specific model are you talking about?  Apple has produced many models of "iPad".  You need to be a bit more specific about which model and generation you are asking about.

I use an iPad Air 2.   It works fine.

WHAT IS, THE SYSTEM ITS SELF? WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND? IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I CAN USE THAT IPAD 2 AT ALL, OR DO I NEED A COMPLETE NEW TABLET? I HAVE AN IPHONE 6+ BUT I DONT KNOW IF THAT WILL BE BIG ENOUGH.

The processor inside the ipad2 is too slow. DJI recommends the A7 or newer for their system too work correctly. I have loaded the app onto my old ipad2, but only too get familiar with it, not to use it.

I use mine with the iPhone 6 - no issues; also use the iPad Air (2)

Both have advantages and disadvantages

You certainly do not have to buy a new device as long as you have one that is compatible with the app. They all work just as well as others. It really just depends on what size you want your screen to be. I use an iPhone 6 plus and it's good enough.

Yes I do. I have had it since the app has come out and I have not had that many problems. It is good enough to use without devastation like errors.

It probably would have been easier for  you to type "yes" or "no", but whatever.  Anyway I am using the Ipad 4 and it seems to work fine.  Ordered a third party add-on to the top of the holder that's supposed to hold it successfully.

Yeah it cracks me up when people write a paragraph telling you to search a topic when it's so much easier to just answer the question. that said, I just ordered the ipad mini 4 to use. My 6+ is too small for my liking.

I had at first, bought and tried an iPad Mini. It was a great fit, nice screen size too, but overheated after only one intelligent flight battery worth of flight.
So I traded it up, to an iPad Air 2 64gb Cellular. Wow, I can fly four full flight batteries, and it remains cool to the touch. & never a problem, concern or negative hiccup.
What a work horse, it's a like a Clydesdale...
Air 2 Cellular. It just works.

Just to be clear, I am not using the Ipad Mini 4 but a regular 11 inch Ipad 4.  We got it about 3 years ago and it's still working -- much longer than I thought it would last.

I started with an iPhone 5 even though it was not listed as supported.  The video was a little choppy but otherwise it worked fine.  I switched to an iphone5s and the video streaming was much better.  No real difference in performance of DJI GO.  I just setup an ipad mini which is not supported due to the processor speed.  Like the iPhone 5, it has a hard time rendering video with no glitches.  Control seems fine but slightly slower.  I have seen a controller with an ipad 4.  It had a mount specifically made for the ipad, so supporting it was not an issue.

The mini seems the perfect size.  Lighter on the controller and a decent size display.  Once I recover from buying the Phantom, extra battery and other basics, I will most likely get an ipad mini 4.

No, at the very least you need an iPad 4.

I've always used an iPad Mini 3 (FGNV2X/A) with my P3A.  It has worked flawlessly and still seems to have adequate power, even with the current demands of the app.

OK. I went straight for the Air 2.
