ok so heres whats going on and I found the one way to make it work but it's still needs a fix.

so if I format the card in the mavic air my computer will not recognize the micro sd card. when I format the card as mac journaled the air wont recognize it, when I format on my mac as ms-dos-fat the mavic air will recognize it and I can record and use in my computer but for some reason when I format on the mavic air it formats it to a format thats not recogniziable on my mac. so only option is to format on the mac and use in field. if I accidentally format on the air and shoot all day it will all be wasted and wont be able to download the footage later. Is anyone else having this problem.

I'm using a 128gb sandisk extreme plus v30 and I do not have this issue when formatting in the phantom 4 pro.

Connect Air to PC with USB C cable to read files in the SD card.

Possibly something to do with flight logs being recorded while you are flying.. makes sense not to allow formating while in flight then!

I guess he is referring to formatting in the mavic Air, not in the air (flying).

That's odd - I use SanDisk Extreme Pro V30, A1 32gb micro SD cards and always format them in the drone (Mavic Air) without any issues. Always format before take off and set recording to continuous in the app. I also set to MOV as use iOS and not MP4.

I've never formatted the card in any other way then in the drone. Never had an issue. I can read the card properly on a Mac using the build-in card reader (with the adapter) and attaching the drone to the computer with a cable.

Exactaly. I’ve never had this issue with the p4p or mavic pro. Maybe this air is defective.

No issues here whatsoever.  I format the card in the drone and read them on my MacBook without problem.

Perhaps try another SD card, one with smaller gb's like a 32gb or 64gb. I know they state that 128gb is compatible but that may be what is causing your issue.

When you format microSD card in Mavic Air, and put card in to MAC, what type of format does MAC show card is?

When you do format microSD card using MAC, what is actual format type you are using?

128-GB card can't be formated as old MS DOS Fat, due to size of card.

I’m using SandDisk 32 gb cards and recommend you format your cards on a Mac for FAT32
The Drone will complain that they need re-formatting but it will work. Your mac can then read them.

If you format in the Mavic you then have to connect the Mavic (powered on with its fan getting angry) and connect with the USB cable.

When I format in the mavic air my iMac won’t even acknowledge there is a card there but I can repair the card but then the card won’t be recognized in
The mavic air.

Time to try a different microSD Card, and one that is 32GBs or 128GBs in size.
I don't have a Mavic Air or I would try my sole 128GB microSD card once I find it...

I also use a SanDisk Extreme Pro V30, A1 64GB micro SD  I have only formatted in the aircraft, and have never had a problem.  I use the MP4 format.  My SD card is readable in my Macbook Pro as well as my Windows 10 machine.

Do you have another card to try?  I'd be interested to see if it's the size of the card as well.

Yu bet....same card.......same issue.....in windows but yet to try exfat format.

I think the solution is to plug the drone into the computer and pull the files from the DCIM folder as someone suggested
