By nobody you mean all those who kept there complaining on the useless video feed? That topic has been completely neglected by DJI for some reason. Also for Android latest is still 4.2.20 which is pretty useless that's why that topoc needs attention.

My phone is Samsung S3.

I'm experiencing issues with my Samsung S7 running DJI GO 4 Application Version 4.2.20. Yesterday, I flew both my Spark and Mavic Pro. It was the first time I had flown since the update went through on my Samsung S7. Normally, the S7 runs DJI GO 4 App flawlessly, it has 4 GB of RAM and I do not install too many Apps (only 14GB out of 32GB of storage used plus I have a 128 GB Samsung EVO Micro SD card expanded in the slot).

Yesterday upon flying the Spark and Mavic Pro the video feed from both to the phone was severely lagging and heavy with latency. I also noticed the stick inputs from the controller were not instantly being followed by both of my drones? Both the Spark and Mavic Pro were drifting in my backyard simply hovering, and when I lifted the Mavic Pro up just from its hovering point flying 5 feet in front of me it went into ATTI Mode. I luckily had it just a couple of hundred feet directly above me so landing it wasn't too complicated, but if I had been flying several hundred feet out in VLOS then I'd have no FPV on my phone and unable to land the Mavic Pro?

I tried reconnecting both in my bedroom to see if the choppiness in video was corrected, and it was terrible the entire day? I haven't tried it today, but I cannot fly my drones with this version  of DJI GO 4? I actually uninstalled and reinstalled the DJI GO 4 Application several times no success. Then I even did a Factory Reset on my Samsung S7 and reinstalled the DJI GO 4 Application Version 4.2.20 and the same heavy video choppiness and latency occurred?

Before the latest firmware update, I was able to fly my drones to the point they never went into ATTI Mode or drifted and acted unresponsive? Without the ability to downgrade to an earlier version of the Application, I simply see no way to fly these drones anymore?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi David,

Why you cannot downgrade the Application now on Android ?

Can't you uninstall and then install a specific APK ?

Also did they do a New Firmware Upgrade for the Spark, the latest I saw was the one launced in Dec 2017.

Hi DMX - How do you install an earlier version of the DJI GO 4 Application? I am suspect on installing an APK that is not approved by DJI? Some times the APK of an earlier application version has malware if you download it from a 3rd party website?

These are backups of the DJI Go4 App. They are not Modded Files. They are Real DJI Apks, just old versions.

1) Uninstall the DJI Go4 App
2) I would restart the phone
3) Go to https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/dji-technology-co-ltd/
4) Choose which version you want
5) Install it

If you have an old android, try to install it on an old one, just to see if all is ok, so you can skip step 1 and step 2.

I called DJI Tech Support and explained the situation to them and they had a Manager phone me back who sent me the last version prior to Version 4.2.20 of DJI GO 4 Application.

I downloaded the attachment via DJI Manager's email. I quickly reconnected to my Mavic Pro inside my house and it seems not to be reproducing the jittery video - so hopefully no more issues with ATTI Mode?

I think I will roll back to 4.2.12 or .14 until another reliable one comes out. 2.16 and 2.20 are both junk, at least for me...

That's good to know David,

If you use OTG the 2nd most stable version (Not for New Pilot Setting Up Spark for the First time - as it had the 'CANNOT TAKEOFF' Bug) after the version 4.1.15, was the 4.2.12

As long as you are working well ! Perfect !

Sorry I don't know about the Flashing HD Icon, what I suspect is that the HD Icon is the Connection between the Mavic Pro and the Remote right. From my understanding the Flashing is reporting a 'Weak Signal'. As you said I think its a Bug in that 4.2.8 Version.

David is afraid that from the APK Mirror the Software could be tempered and may contain Malware + Virus. See msg #10.

I told him they are Original DJI GO4 Backups that users upload just in case you need to roll back.

I suggest that he goes and downloads the APKs, but he seems not trusting the APK Site. Then its up to him.

DJI's policy is to always upgrade, so it can not be wrong. I think this forces you to always keep up to date the restrictions you are using (NFZ).
I'm only updating when many people say it's okay ...
Those who flew away of Spark, all said that everything was the latest!

Currently, .00701 for firmware and 4.1.15. a Go app. everything works well! There is OTG, good video feeds, no crash.
Then why should I upgrade?

Hi  folks, having some issues since the update to 4.2.20 i am  using a  samsung note 4 otg cable, randomly aircraft disconnects ,screen goes black inputs from RC delayed and magnetic interference  forcing atti mode, this happened in an area that I had no issues whatsoever  prior to the update. I just wish I would have written down the version I was using  before the update (just got the drone June 6 ) any inputs greatly appreciated.

Hi folks, I am having some issues with my spark since the latest update to 4.2.20 ,using a samsung note 4 and otg since day one (june 6 when i got the drone) wifi live feed was not good . Randomly aircraft disconnect (AC only few feet away RC inputs sometimes ok sometimes delayed ) screen going black forcing me to restart app and reconnecting , magnetic interference forcing atti mode then going back to GPS after drifting few feet away all these  happening on an area I flown before without any issues prior to the update. I just wish I would have kept the previous version , not sure which one was .

Hallo my friend.

After spending  many, many  daylight hours and many late nights to try and resolve the severe latency,  disconnects on an Android Samsung J5 with extended internal memory using the current App 4.2.20 I almost gave-up.

Down graded the app this afternoon (after reading  the posts ) to 4.2.8 and had 3 full battery flights with out any problems at all. The AC is now as smooth as butter and do not get ANY lag , loss of video or disconnects of the RC.

I will use rev 4.2.8 for now and if need be look at 4.2.12.

I can not tell you how many times I have re-installed 4.2.20 on different Android phones and almost bought another phone.

Total Flight Times = 225.  19 April 2018.  Thus 14 791meters/225 times = 65.7 meters average....very poor...all this is due to software.

Great weekend and you stay in a amazing beautiful place.

I will take 4.1.12 for a spin tomorrow - hope I can fly finally with no issues.

Meh... no success, video feed is very bad with 4.2.12 too. It worked well 2 monts ago directly from the phone. Will keep on trying..

And photos are not saving to my phone...

Try the following for the bad quality of video feed:

1. Clear all background App before flight.
2 Reduce video cache file to 1G.
3 Clear cache file after each flight if it was a clean flight.
4. Set auto clear of cache

I'm using a Galaxy J5  (Android version 6.0.1 Marshmallow)
My phone cached videos are stored on the Gallery App and the cached photos on the Google Photo App.
Using now 4.2.8...maybe it is the same with 4.2.12
With 4.2.20 it was all cached in the Gallery App and did not even open the Google Photo App.

Hi,

To me it was something like this:

4.2.12 and 4.2.14 with phone only - all good
4.2.14 with RC - lag issues
4.2.20 with RC - lag issues and files not saving on phone
downgraded to 4.2.12 with RC - some lag issues (to be tested) but still not saving images and videos on phone

It is definately not saving, I have searched everywhere :/
