Hello Everyone,
Please see my Video from my Souther Cali trip, this piece is from Orange County (OC) to Los Angeles (LA). Hope you enjoy. Traveling Tips below regarding my trip
(Video Music is copyright Free)
So by now a lot of you have probably read and seen many "How to's" and Travel Tips, I bet all really good. So I will just mention the ones that work for me and you can relate from them or add take them as additional pieces of information if you had not thought of or heard it before. So without further due, here are my Travel Tips when traveling to California:
1. Equipment: think about what you want to accomplish when you travel, is your intention only to have fun and get some shots along the way, is it to fully document your trip with video and photography? based on this you will depermine what you need to take with you, this way you are hauling extra equipment. For my travels I try to balance both fun and documenting as i usually Travel with my wife now (im glad she lets me plan most of the trips! lol). For this I know bringing my DSLR, portable drone (MavicPro), POV camera and Stabilizer (OsmoMobile) with me. Since my photography is mostly for me and not commercial, i bring with me an all purpose lens, 24-105 or 18-300 or anything with a wide range will work as you wont have to be changing lenses at all and minimize carrying equipment. i bring ND and Polarized filters and some extra batteries for all my gear as well as spare SD cards.
2. Weather: you cant predict mother nature, but you can research what typical weather would be on the time of year you are traveling. for my trip, Southern California has very fair weather year round. it is mostly sunny and warm, so i know i dont have to take extra precautions (battery wise). i do make sure i bring good Filters as water and sun create some harsh reflections and having a good ND/PL lens can mitigate this somewhat.
3. Local Laws: it is a good habit to research about local laws and find if there are going to be No-Fly Zones on the places you will be visiting. it is best to keep yourself out of trouble when traveling. also make sure to be aware of your airlines travel policies regarding to Lipo batteries, and have a print out with you of these rules. Ive found many times where they will put me aside to check my bags because of batteries, and addressing the agent nicely and politely is the way to go, as many times you are actually educating them as they are not really familiar with proper ways of carrying lipo batteries ( I carry them inside fire retardant bags tailored for these).
4. Be Nice and approachable with locals: when flying try to avoid heavily visited areas or flying over people as much as you can. when approached by somone with questions or giving you a hard time about flying drones, have a calm attitude towards them and educate them (ive turned many aggressive approaches into amuzed and amzed attitudes just by staying calm and not taking the attitude personal).
5. Practice Practice Practice: The first time I decided to venture into aerial photo/video, i got myself a cheap drone and used it for about 2 months before i bought myself a more expensive piece of quipment. Yes the Mavic/Phantom/Inspire and all have differences in flight personality and maneuverability, but ultimately the controls have the same type of commands. Getting used to the commands is very important as they will translate into more smooth flying and ultimatly better video.
Hope you get some value out of these tips,
Fly Safe!

That is great! hope you can see San Antonio and Austin next time, fun cities!
No probs mate - my fav part - lot's of nice angles and sequences but I particularly liked the fly over and semi orbit around the pier. Very nicely controlled. The time lapse along the street was also cool.

Thanks Darryl!! i saw that video you sent me! wow! amazing and beautiful landscapes in Malta! want to go for sure more now!!
Thank you FlyingFish for your nice words !
Thats a very short video that I came through on the DJI Channel. Lots of Hidden Secrets here in Malta like the Neolithical Temples all around the Island (One of the Oldest in the World), the Fortifications, the Traditions, the Religious Feasts we Celebrate almost 2 or more every week in Summer in each Village with Fireworks, Bands, Lighten Churches etc.., but I don't blame them as to make that video they just had a very small time frame.
Every Country is Unique and has its own History and Treasures, we live in a Beautiful Planet. By means of Drones we can also Share Experiences.
I will be learning more and more how to fly and edit in Adobe Premiere Pro, it takes time and patience, but will start uploading some stuff I think soon.
I am New to Videography thats why it will be harder for me, as my Hobby was a Photographer.
Have a Nice Weekend Mate ! Lots of Hugs to You from Malta !
