What do you think they would change. If we are serous, the Mavic Air is like a Super-Spark. The original Mavic Pro is getting old, so it needs an update with higher camera quality. That would make it a choice over the Mavic Air. Then the next Phantom will probably be aimed for prosumers, possibly with interchangeable lenses, etc. So, I think we’ll not get an update on the Air, but will get and update in the Mavic Pro or Phantom.
If we look at which drone would be easier to upgrade / release the Mavic Air is the clear winner. It has the better bitrate (100 vs 60), more sensors, better gimbel location). All they would need to do is add side sensors and Occysnyc and its golden. Ideally with an increase time to 30 minutes, but I think that if they release an Air with Occysync and side sensors everyone would get it no problem.
I can see it being top dog for a few months, then come Nov, they release the Phantom 5 with the interchangeable lens for the professionals.
If they went the Mavic Pro 2 route, they would have to modify the hardware more. It just seems more natural to upgrade from there newest drone then go back to an almost 2 year old one. |
