Anyone try using the regular MP batteries with the MP Platinum? Wondering if they will work

They are identical (-color) batteries.

I can report that the Platinum batteries work fine on the regular MP, so it is a pretty safe bet that the MPP and MP batteries are identical.

I do not have a Mavic Pro Platinum and haven't tried the battery compatibility. I've seen information by DJI and other independent testers that both batteries are compatible with each other.

They are exactly the same except the colour. The increase in flight time on the MPP is driven by the new ESC's and props lowering the motor RPM's

I understand the MPP has a longer battery time, so obviously wont apply if you use the older MP battery correct?

Great to hear, so we can still use the old batter and gain the longer flight time!

Both the battery capacities are the same. As mentioned above, the flight time extends due to the imp[rovements on ESC technology and propellers.
