I am interested in the Ronin-S but since I want to put the camera on a high pole for overhead shots the difficulty is that I want to be able to change the angle of the camera.  I am hoping that their is a plan to add this functionality to the iphone app to control as you already have an app for managing the setting.  Or using the Gyroscope like in the Spark when connecting over wifi.  This is a real bummer if there is no remote control ability to change the angle!

Not sure about the iPhone, but in the android app you can move the gimbal any direction you want, and remap axis as well. Not sure how far away it will reach though.

The app has a "create" selection that offers the ability for capture, panoramas,  timelapse, motionlapse, and track.  The capture selection let's fully control the gimble rotation & angle, plus choose if it's a still or video.

What I don't see with any of these capture choices is the ability to alter the exposure settings.  If it were on a long monopole, hit record and raise it up while using the app to control gimbal movement.

I am looking at using this with either a camcorder (Panasonic ) which has a remote view and control app for iphone. If iPhone cannot control movement then I will just get a cheap android device from Ali Express.  Still undecided about Sony Camera or Panasonic Camcorder as my understanding is Sony has time limitations on recording video in 4K and 240 FPS.  Panasonic camera can do 120 to 240 fps depending on the models I am looking at.  Both the Panasonic Camcorder and Sony Cam also have remote preview and control.

Like sumoadam mentioned, Ronin-S can be controlled by the Ronin mobile app remotely, but the range is around 10 m. Ronin APP is definitely compatible with iOS mobile device.
Besides, the Ronin-S is also compatible with the DJI Master Wheels and Force Pro when connected when using the DJI Pro Wireless Receiver. The Ronin-S can also be connected with D-Bus compatible systems such as the Futaba series via the port on the Focus Wheel.

Did you mean S-BUS?  I could not find any reference to S-BUS.

Pretty much any Futaba compatible remote can control the Ronin-S through the S-Bus port. You just need to buy a receiver and transmitter. There are many generic brands as well if you're price conscious.

D-Bus is an interprocess communication (IPC) system based on S-Bus, to be more specific, you will just need to toggle the switch to S-Bus when connected to a third-party remote-control system.

In order to use a wireless remote with the Ronin-S, such as the Ronin 2 remote, you need a wireless module that hooks up to the Ronin-S, question is, when is a planned release for this?
