So, I recently updated my Samsung S7 to Oreo 8.0, as it prompted me to do the system update.
Every since updating, when I fly, my phone/app/monitor is glitchy as can be! It might be clear video for a few seconds, then it just glitches and lags.

Green line glitches, grey static everywhere... It's to the point where it's just unsafe for me to fly my Mavic Pro now.

The reason I KNOW 100% it's the update, is that my wife also has an S7 like I do, but she has NOT updated to Oreo 8.0 yet,

and It streams video SMOOTH as BUTTER on hers.

Can DJI update the app? Do you think if I call Verizon they will allow me to go back to Nougat on my Android? I heard they WILL NOT let you do that...

I'm so upset. What do you guys recommend? Thanks!

I also want to add that my drone was checked out 2 days ago because of the issue, b/c I was afraid it was my camera or something seriously wrong. But I paid $97 for a clean bill of HEALTH, from a Certified DJI store here in town. ALSO, the video records GREAT on the SD CARD, but also records SUPER DISTORTED and LAGGY on my phone's cached storage. :/

Same here, after Oreo update a week ago I get heavy pixelation. My Samsung Note 3 on earlier version 7 has no issues I also tried my wife's iphone X and it works flawless.

I really appreciate your response! Are you talking about the app or the Android System? How do I do that? How do you roll back? Is there a walkthrough site? Thanks so much!

Yes, the latest versions of GO4 for Android users have been flawed, buggy, and consistently worse with each new app update.

4.2.16 works but some have had crashed apps.
4.2.14 seems to work flawlessly based on FB groups, and local flyers here. DJI store guys in town are also suggesting reverting to 4.2.14 or 4.2.12

No, it is not the users tablets or phones. All these devices worked flawlessly before the app updates. It has been suggested that the app is now too big to support so many DJI products, and one fix or update for the Air for example cripples the Spark or MP.

Dozens and dozens of users at the DJI MP/MA FB sites and MP FB sites are reporting the glitches in teh app, crashes, very laggy pixelated video feed. Going back to 4.2.14 seems to fix the problems, so it is for certain not a problem with the tablets or phones.

That's interesting.
My current issues started with 4.2.16. Not app crashes but other things.

Is there a way to find the history of Go4 app updates, once they were rolled out to devices?
I want to compare that with my flight dates.

I found this here but the dates shown are the upload dates to that website:

My current issues started with 4.2.16. Not app crashes but other things.

IDK, other than there are hosts and hosts of MP users having nothing but problems with the current app when they have phones or tablets twice as capable as min spec. Reverting has helped 90% of the reported problems.

Some speculate the app is just too big now. It was buggy after Spark was added, now the Air is added as well. I'm no app designer so I can't say for any certainty what the problem may be.

Many users with Note 8, S8, Tab A10, Tab S3 (newer), Zen 3 and so on all reporting problems with Go4 App that worked before the past few updates. Devices easily in spec to run Go4 3x over.

DJI should be testing these with many commonly sold Android products, or simply go full on IOS. That is a sentiment of many users on FB groups, Mavic Groups etc. DJI created a product that runs on IOS and Android app. They need to be tested on both type platforms and fixed if needed.

I'm not in either camp, but have products from both. I find it ridiculous that if a customer buys a $1000 drone and then is asked to buy another $500 tablet when they already have a device capable is pure lunacy. That is only because the app is supported on both products.

DJI has not listed many newer Android products commonly used as their tested safe devices. Note 4 was many many years ago. Why not test a Note 8 that is really about as good spec wise as a Crystal Sky. Tons of successful uses of the Go4 app working great on that product...until lately with the newest updates. That is what is throwing people. If I were DJI I would be making announcements they are aware of this problem and working to correct it promptly. Many Android phone and tablet users on these forums are new potential purchasers with Mavic money not yet spent. They now are questioning pulling the trigger.

I don't think it's the Android 8.0 Oreo update on your Samsung S7, because my S7 still runs Android 7.0 Nougat and ever since the latest DJI GO 4 update to 4.2.20, the video feed from my Spark and Mavic Pro has been extremely choppy and problematic.

My experience is the following:  (DJI Mavic Pro Platinum - DJI GO 4 . v4.2.20, Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 - Oreo)
I moved from Android 7 to 8  and  DJI GO 4 auto updated  to v.4.2.20  presumably on the same day.
Anyway, one thing is sure,  some seven days before the change my drone system worked flawlessly.
Next time i used it ( after the change ) video feedback started to be - sometimes unusably -  pixelated,
lagging... etc. No other annoying issue so far.
According to the latest comments the most likely cause is the DJI app.
I hope DJI will care for the thousands of customers using the Android platform around the globe and will find a real solution instead of "backgrading" the DJI GO 4 app.

4.2.20 has its own issues.
Like the OP, I started seeing pixellation/macroblocking on 4.1.18 after my S7 edge was updated to Android 8.0. After installing 4.2.20, the macroblocking problem got infinitely worse - to the point that Go 4 is completely unusable. Litchi works perfectly under Android 8.0, BTW.

Thanks Berkes for your feedback. I really rather DJI compare the feedback between the current and recent last few versions. For one, I don't like the fact when you select the settings button in the DJI GO 4 Application it now takes a few seconds to load up the screen, and when it's loaded up it looks like the font got bigger and it's larger than the rest of the font in the application, as before everything was more uniformed and snappier, which gave the impression that the application was air-tight safe. Now it seems buggy, slow, and bloated. Hence, the reason for the video being overly choppy in poor viewing condition.

My suspicion for these problems has to do with the addition of Phantom 4 Pro v2.0. It appears the MORE models DJI adds to the market it causes the application to have MORE numbers and data to process. Given there is an upcoming announcement on July 18th where presumably DJI will unveil the Mavic Pro II, I can only imagine the problems for Mavic Pro owners will increase. This makes for a convenient opportunity for DJI customers to upgrade. I hope I'm wrong but it's sure looking that way?

I will say that at first when I started to use 4.2.20 the video was too unstable and my Mavic Pro for the first time went into ATTI Mode flying right above me? The second time I used 4.2.20 the Mavic Pro, again, went into ATTI Mode flying right above me. I took some time to reflash the firmware on  my Mavic Pro and RC and have flown a few times since with better results, but the video is still rather choppy, although manageable but certainly not close to where it was and should be and I'm using Samsung S7 with 4GB RAM.

Hi Canote, I just got an update from our engineers that they need the log for further analysis. Could you export the whole log file(.../DJI/dji.go.v4/LOG) and send to us? It is recommended to upload to Dropbox or Google Drive, then share the link with us, thanks in advance!

I'm no specialist for these things but since problems keep growing as Android was being updated to 7.0 and then 8.0 I'm wondering if it's the Go4 app fault.
I gotta revert my S3 back or just throw it ouf the window. I'm so pi*ssed I tend to the latter option ;-)

I had this same issue with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S3.  Rolling back to DJI Go 4.2.14 seems to have fixed the problem.  Since it appears that this problem has been occurring for several months now, the absence of a real fix is most unacceptable.

Same happened to mine, and several others I know in our drone club with newer Samsung Gal Tab S3's.
Not an Oreo issue at all. The app failures are happening with anything from Marshmallow to Oreo. It's mostly on devices that have less the 4G ram. DJI GO4 app for android is just problematic for devices under 4G ram. Even when all non essential apps are shut down.

4.2.16 app works, and anything after that does not.

I've been flying on 4.2.12 and also rolled back the firmware to .0200. .0400 was giving a lot of errors and aircraft disconnects. .0200 is fine.

Welcome to Go4 Beta. The ever changing app guaranteed to fault devices. Anymore it does not matter if devices are on the recommended list or not.  This has been going on since May. No fix, other than for now to rollback and see if it works again. SAD for sure!

I use 4.2.21 on my Note 8. And the weird thing I expirience is lag which dissapears when I activate the bottom onscreen buttons (Swiping the buttons up). After 5 seconds it starts lagging again. This is no transition lag of the video, just lag of the app. I must mention that I am on a custom rom, which could cause the problem. Still.. All apps work flawless except for DJI Go

Has DJI done ANYTHING ABOUT THIS YET??  I still cannot get the video stable enough to be comfortable in flying.  NOT TO MENTION that I MISSED a lot of HURRICANE FLORENCE footage.  Why hasn't there been any update on this thread sine 8/20?
I have an S7 Edge with Oreo, if someone has the same phone and they have no problems with their P4P, please let me know software versions and firmware version.
