I followed the instructions, and disabled "cache to SD card" but the app is still saving a local copy. I tried stopping and restarting the app, but no change. So what exactly is being "disabled" when I uncheck "cache to SD card"? Every time I hit the record button, I am also seeing a local copy being saved. I am using the latest version 4.2.20

Ever set the size of the cache to the lowest possible value?

There might be a video cache option in the DJI GO4 app. Me, Settings (little wheal in the top right corner), Clear cache. I cleared it as I got a video cache full message yesterday.

Can't tell, what you are doping wrong.
But in your case it might be better to try "on", with the 1G setting and NO AUTO CLEANUP
After the 1 G is full, it should stop.

Device is Android Motorola G4.

Actually, you could try to set the feature with an different version of the go4 app.
To check if that would switch it off!

So where do I find the older versions? DJI website has nothing about it.

I would try 4.1.15 and/or 4.2.12
But I have never tried to stop caching

Mine does the opposite - It is set to save but since the update to 4.2.20 it is not saving

Is this a DJI-approved process? I mean, if the drone does something strange and crashes, would DJI say I am on my own for installing an unofficial apk?

Based on some older threads, it is not possible to disable video caching on the android. Is that still true?  https://forum.dji.com/thread-101075-1-1.html

I have exactly the same issue - video cache option is disabled in the DJI Go 4 app, but each recording is saved to my phone... Tried already the latest version of DJI GO (4.2.21) as well as 4.2.12.
Not sure if this is related, but my video feed stutters while turning the drone. Does it happen to you as well?
UPDATE:
I think the "Cache to SD card" works as expected... It allows you to MOVE recordings from internal phone's memory to SD card. In other words if the option is turned on, you can select your phone's SD card for recordings, otherwise it will use the phone's internal memory.
That said - there IS NO way to completely disable saving recordings on your Android Phone. I tried this with version 4.1.15, 4.2.12, 4.2.21.
