Impressive video.
Flying above the clouds was neat. I don't think I could of done it. Loosing sight in the clouds would of cause me to go into panic mode.
Thanks for sharing.

Could be worse.  Your drone is in clear, and you are in the clouds.

There are a few drone pilots whose heads are in the clouds when they fly.

Sorry, but this seems wrong. Considering the time it took to fly to above the clouds, it seems unreasonably high. If I'm right, there are only three things to say; Stupid, dangerous and illegal.

Couldn't agree more. Clearly >400' AGL and outside VLOS. Not the brightest thing to do for sure.

Not sure where this was, but in the US, the rules say under 500 ft below cloud base too.   Oh well...not our job to be drone police.  Stuff like this is just going to get us more silly restrictions.

Brightest thing... No, it's crazy.
In addition, the guy who is flying seems to be so lazy that he doesn't even want to move away from his own driveway.

So... before i did my research, I used to watch this kind of video and say Oooh, that's awesome!!  Then I read.  Then i learned.  Then I talked to people at ATC.  Then I realized how dangerous this actually be.

The footage is majestic.  Being able to be above the clouds whilst still firmly on the ground is beautiful.  But it's just not smart.  It's dangerous and as other pilots said, things like this will eventually cause more restrictions on the rest of the community.

Thanks for sharing, but please fly safe.  This is not that.

Golf airspace can and should be shared with civilian aviation i don't see that being a problem.  Everyone I know busts that restriction all the time it's hard not to with this type of equipment.   I think the FAA at some point will remove the current altitude restriction and pave the way for future drone pilots to have equipment and training to engage with local atc for traffic avoidance, monitoring or following...

Not all clouds are over 400 feet AGL.  I actually seen clouds tops over the overlook in the valley just half mile from my house.  It’s uncommon but it happens.. and about 100 feet below the overlook area.  Very cool.

Maybe on day when it happens I’ll fly out over the tops of the clouds..  it’s even cooler if it’s a thunderstorm that’s getting trapped by the mountain!  I been wanting to fly my Mavic Pro out overtop a thunderstorm but ever since I gotten into drones I haven’t seen it happen.. it’s fairly rare but so cool seeing the lighting.

Mind you I’m only 500M up (1600 feet)

Very unlikely to relax restrictions when people already don’t abide by them. The problem that you don’t see is that that airspace is used by aeroplanes that carry passengers. Not rocket science. The fact you know people that bust restrictions all the time is hardly something to boast about. Like, well everyone breaks the law so that’s ok then attitude...
