I just got my bird this morning. I am following the video to update the aircraft but it does not do the update sequence and when I checked the card it had a new readme file saying that I was installing current or older version. I guess that means the one I have is up to date but i wanted to double check before I flew, any way to do that?

Yes if its allready up to date thats the meaage you will get,  to confirm you can post the hidden log located on the SD card under \misc\log\logname, you will need to enable hidden files on your computer to be able to see it.
post the text from the file.

no there is another hidden file located in the folder misc\log\logname, you will need to enable view hidden files on your computer first

this shows the full version checking information not just the message you got.

I get this from the sd card.
Packet: P3S_FW_V01.01.0008.bin
Result: Abort.
The firmware on the SD card is identical to or older than the current firmware on the aircraft.

Does this mean I'm updated with the current fireware?
Thank you

Leave the firmware file on the SD card so if you get new battery it will automatically update them when you put them in

I had the same issue.  Then when updating the controller, I noticed the RED led lit as soon as I powered it on.   I did online chat help and was told to hook the controller up to the aircraft and turn them on.  Immediately the light on the controller went green and began beeping.  The instructions said there would be a blue light and beeping, the green light would indicate success.
When the rep from the help chat told me to power them both down and check the SD card, it also said the firmware was up to date.   Sure would be nice if it was more obvious.
Another thing to note.  Maybe when I tried to update using my usb stick and it didn't work, was because I had it formatted to NTSF, not FAT32 or exFAT.

To be 100% sure on the craft update the best way is to view the hidden log file located on the SD card after the update attempt, this is not the one in the root directory, its located  SD card Drive letter, \misc\log\logname,  to view it you need to enable view hidden files on your computer,  mac or windows,  that log will show the version checking and look something like this

Ater waiting 5 weeks for my P3A it arrived yesterday. I set it up, charged everything and re-read/reviewed some last minute notes, posts and watched videos.
I was extremely nervous because I've read a lot of disaster stories for over a month. However, I now had this beauty in my hands and decided to get it in the air, for better or worse. If it flew away, crashed or some other mishap, that would be the end of my drone days and head back to the Golf course for a less aggravating past time. Then head to the 19th hole.
Well, here goes, armed the motors, pressed auto take off and there it happened, a flawless ascent to about 3 feet. It's if I just crossed the English channel in a hang-glider!! It felt wonderful. So I went a little higher and a little more distance........it worked!! I let it hover here and there for about 5-7 minutes each time.
Finally, I decided the heart just can't take more more and navigated it back to the landing pad. I landed and shut everything down.

This bird is everything and better than all the GOOD reports I've read. I have no regrets being one of the first buyers (pre-ordered customer) and now look forward to hours of unequal enjoyment with this baby. The vids and still shots were crisp/clear and breathtaking. The video on my iPad was perfect and did not break up or flicker.
I sold my P2V+ a month ago, which was also a great machine with zero problems.

My advice to those waiting or deciding to get a P3: Be careful, go slow and follow the owner's manual. Don't take short cuts and don't be in a hurry.
For those who seem to be have varied of issues, I just hope it is attributed to pilot error.

Good luck and smooth flying.
