Where are you from?
You should come to the Whale Coast in the Western Cape Province of South Africa as apparently it is the best and consistent whale watching in the world.
The major town is called Hermanus and I stay 60km from there in Pringle Bay where the whales come right close to the beach.

Interesting.  I was not aware that the whales go up along the cost that far as in my ignorance i thought that the water is too warm there

Just know that December is not the best time for whales around the Whale Coast. Having said that it has happened that whales were spotted throughout the year.

The Florida Marine Patrol need to get more boats offshore looking at the commercial fishing vessles. As a retired deckhand on charter boats I have heard many stories of these fishermen doing these hostile acts of crime. I"am 100% sure that it is commercial fishermen that are responsible for this hostile act!

Ignorant and vicious people do ignorant and vicious things. Coast Guard and Marine Police have to step up patrols on these waters. I have a feeling alcohol and illegal and / or unethical fishing practices are occurring in these Florida waters.
