One of my 3 new Phantom 4 IFB's has developed a crack.

This battery has 9 charges on it and was first activated on 6/1/2018. It's manufacture date is Mar 31, 2018.

This battery has never been abused, overheated, mis-charged, crashed, dropped, etc.

I have not seen many images of cracks in this location for these batteries.

I have already sent in a support request.

Hi thanks for reaching DJI Forum. We do apologize if you had issues with your batteries. May we ask for the case (CAS) number?

Wow! First time I've seen that with the new internal clip design (indicated by the screws on the side of the cap). I'm sure that DJI will come to the party on this, if only to work out why.

One of the reasons why Ill never buy a Phantom series drone, again. Every Phantom series drone I've owned, I had to deal with hairline cracks on the Airframe, battery and/or landing gear. Ive never had a hard landing or crash... Im hoping DJI finds a solution to this...

I don't think DJI will do much of this, see this thread too.

Gee I wonder how many of those cracking batteries are out in the wild.  That could cost DJI  a pretty penny.  Smart manufacturing would says "fix it".  Lots of risk.  What  was the idea behind the design change?  Batteries popping out??

No - cracking in another spot. The original design had an internal spring like you'd see on a wooden clothes peg, with one side of the spring tensioned against the cap and the other pushing the clip out. In some instances where it was pushing against the cap, a crack would appear on the exterior - too much load for the plastic.
I haven't seen one of the newer design, high capacity batteries opened, but I suspect that the two screws indicate a friendlier internal mechanism for tensioning the clips.

I also have defective batteries (3 out of 4!) people should be aware that cracks can appear on the batteries just after the 6 month warranty expire.
It seems that mine had the same issue as people had in 2017-2016 with cracks next to the fourth led indicator. It is still not resolved and it clearly is a manufacturing defect.

I think all 7 of my batteries have cracks. Some new some old, some on the back cover, some on the side. I'm also on my 4th P4 due to cracks.

You would think that Chinese manufacturers would have had plenty of experience with plastics by now.  After all,  they have been turning it out for long enough !

This is the what’s happened to my gear too. Spend thousands of dollars with this company that brings out terrible quality gear, other products with terrible firmware for limited use such as the Ronin S.

These are two seperate batteries as well. No crashes. Treat my gear with respect. Lives in the foam carry case when it’s not in use.

I just noticed the hairline crack on one of my batteries as well (See attached). Of course the battery is beyond the 6 month warranty.

Anyone know where I can purchase a new plate? I know DJI is very reluctant on selling spare sub-parts for their products, but I think in this case they should make an exception...
