Just thought DJI should be aware, that as of late on Facebook there have been a littany of scam posts by companies advertising a drone for sale using pictures and videos of DJI Mavic drones but either (1) not shipping the user anything or (2) shipping them a drone that isnt at all what was pictured. They use photos / video of Mavic drones while advertising ridiculously low prices for said drone. For instance, the other day I saw a company advertising a Mavic Pro for 54 dollars.

Furthermore, while using the videos they never actually use the words Mavic or DJI or any specific names, as you can see from the attached photo.
Thought DJI should be aware so maybe they could contact Facebook to put a damper on these scams. People deeply familiar with the state of drones may not fall for this, but those      who aren't and are curious and maybe looking to get a drone may fall for this as they aren't familiar with the state of the technology or what realistic price points are.

DJI is probably just thinking,"Um...yeah, it's what we do in China. While you see it as 'idea-stealing', We see it as innovation."

Unfortunately, I am one of those that fell for the "showsfox" scam. I took pictures of the checkout, and how it specified it was a Mavic Air Fly more combo promotional price.
I am trying to work with Paypal to get my money back, but they keep insisting I have to work with the seller, who doesn't respond.

when it arrived yesterday it was little more than a dollar store toy... I have been positing on every AD I see on facebook, and reporting them. Facebook keeps saying that the ads are not against their terms of use, and do not do anything about them.

I ordered one to see what it was. They CLEARLY used a DJI ad, and a DJI Mavic by name. So if this is a scam, FB is responsible for not vetting the vendor beforehand. And I'll certainly be getting a refund via PayPal if it's not a real Mavic Air.

The price was just to ridiculous low to be legit  if it was say $399 more people would fall for it ,  There is also a scam going around  where they charge $45 to get you registered with the FAA but they just take the money and still don't send you a license.  The old saying " If it sounds to good to be true then it probably is "

FYI, I reported it to FB and got the same response - it doesn't violate their policy. I'm glad that FB stock is tanking.
Also, I reported it to PayPal and they said to work with the seller.
I contacted the seller and got no response. I'll follow up with PayPal again...

They are all over Instagram as well.  Every time I come across one, I report it to IG for being a scam.  What's interesting is that I get the response from IG saying they have taken the account down, yet I invariably see the ads again.  Either IG is not doing their job, or the scammers are getting creative with their naming.

Its very sad to see people getting scammed online, usually scammers use the official product catalog of online stores to scam other people because they are easily available, Now we at Addify develop plugins for secure web stores one of our products is WooCommerce Private Store PLugin which makes sure that only registered users are able to view the product catalog and no unnecessary people are visiting your store and it does not effects your google ranking as well.

I've seen loads of these for all manner of things.  I guess the adage holds true: "If it looks too good to be real, then it probably is too good to be real".

I wonder if FB can be held accountable in any way?  They are all to happy to pounce on things like InfoWars in an effort to "protect" us all from "false news".  But clearly don't give a damn about things like this.

If you document your purchase - screen shots, etc and use your paypal account, you will get paypal buyer protection so if you don't get the product as represented you can get a refund from paypal (or your credit card company).    It seems to me, worst case, you get some free worthless toys.   Maybe something to put in Christmas stockings....

Actually - no.
No matter the documentation, Paypal requires the item to be mailed back.
The return would cost about $50.
Returns to China are sketchy at the best of times.
To refund the return, the seller has to confirm - which they never do.

So, you spend $75, get a $20 "drone", spend $50 to mail it back, it never arrives, and you're out an additional $50 mailing it back.

Most people wouldn't even bother with the return, and just write it off - therefore enabling the scamers.

If you fail with paypal, you can dispute with your credit card company and you would also get another bite at the apple.

At least you got something i got nothing for my 53 bucks. I did ordered extra batteries. Now they just came with a GRYPHON drone from GRIFF AIR something for 300 bucks astonishing performances. The website shows it is in Canada but it is not true. The domain name is only 47 days old and i couldn't find any GRYFFON drone all over the internet

I reported one this morning. This is FB response.

Typical crapbook nothing response.... the only time facebook responds by blocking anything is if it goes against their socialist & leftist agenda...Perhaps people should learn that everything, and I mean everything on Facebook is rubbish, a scam and fake news.... if it's on facebook treat it as lies unless it's from a actual friend... any and all ads should be discarded indiscriminately or expect to be scammed.
