I have been thinking about getting a drone for about 6 months. So this morning after watching a few youtube video's I decided to pull the trigger and went to Best Buy to pick up a Spark combo pack, I was so excited I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed to start flying today. Get home, unboxed it, put the battery's on the charger while I read the instructions and watched a couple set up video's.
Learned that I would have to do a firmware update :/ figured no problem, how hard could it be? I have had to do firmware updates on several electronics that I've bought.
Well, 7 hours later and I've lost count of how many sites and video's I've watched not to mention a trip to pick up a sd card and I still have nothing.
Tried updating the drone, tried updating the remote, tried updating through wifi, tried updating through USB, tried on a Macbook Pro, tried on a Dell XPS and I have nothing.
Then I came across a couple of other threads and video's of other people having the same problem, firmware gets to 99% and then fails to complete. A couple of them sent theirs to DJI for repairs and they were fixed but it took them 2 months.
At this point I'm wondering just how many people are having this problem? Is it a manufacturing issue or just releasing a product to early.
All I know is it's pretty frustrating to spend that much time and money on something and never even get to try it! It has pretty much killed all my excitment about having a drone.
This was just going to be a starter for me. I was already looking forward to getting a Mavic Pro once I got comfortable flying the Spark.
Now all I keep thinking is what a crappy way to spend a sunday!!! Wasted time and wasted money!!!

Not sure if this is what you mean but here it is.
To be honest, I think at this point I am going to cut my loss' (15% restocking fee) and take it back.
I am just so frustrated that I paid this much money and had to spend this much time on this thing and have gotten absolutely NO enjoyment out of it! I am tired of screwing with it. I bet if I just bought some cheap $50 drone at Walmart I would have at least got to fly it yesterday.

By the way, I have been updating with DJI Assistant 2
Completed the download process, completed the transmitting process, going through the update process now.
Full battery in Spark, updating with USB and MacBook

I really wish I could get to the point of launching it. I felt like a little kid when I got it because I was so excited but now I have been completely deflated and feeling like I have been scammed.

Go directly to DJI Support and open the case with them. You need somebody from DJI assigned and working on it.

On hold with phone support now. Hoping they will at least be able to explain the error code and possible give me a solution before I return it.

All right - good plan.

BTW - did you try to reset to factory default before trying to install firmware?
If you didn't - give it a try first. And than attempt to upgrade to latest firmware one more time.

Found out the problem, the error code is "ultra sonic module damage"(error code 0x026c03).
It has to be sent in for replacment.

Don’t send it in! Go back to Best Buy and demand that they exchange for another unit because this one is faulty.
